Hiya guys, sorry I'm just looking for some advice really as i'm in a bit of a situation so here goes!

our baby has a growing cyst on his left kidney so we have been under consultant care who decided Monday (28/04/14) that she wanted to get the baby out sooner rather than later and booked us in for induction on 30/04/14 (38 weeks) It is now 5/5/14 (38+5) and I am still in hospital! The induction process hasn't actually worked, any contractions I have had have dissapeared and my waters went over 24 hours ago. I am now at wits end wanting something to happen but nothing is! Midwives have said that since Saturday (3/5/14) that I was priority to go over to labour ward but there are no free beds. So now I am playing a waiting game... either my contractions need to spontaneously begin or people need to stop going into labour (haha!) And stop taking my "priority" place. Apparently I can be left up to 72 hours of my waters being broken before any intervention. I feel completely down in the dumps, stressed out, tearful and feeling completely neglected. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or had even been in a similar situation and how did you deal with it? Please please help :-( thanks in advance! Xx

havent been in your shoes, but I suggest kicking up a big fuss! I should think that if you've been induced because the consultant thinks its right due to the cyst, then you shuld be a priority!! Its not fair atall to just leave you for 3 days. Kick up one almighty fuss until you get what you want. Remember, they dont have to like you, they just have to listen to you! Sorry you're suffering :( fingers crossed you'll be out of there ASAP xx

When I had my last lo, (induction) my dr refused to let me go more than 24 hours with my waters broke because of the infection risk. I would kick up a fuss and remind them you were meant to be a priority for a reason.

72 hours after waters have broken sounds like far too long to me. They told me 48 when my waters went naturally but I didn't start contracting. They actually booked an induction for 52 hours later though!! In the end I went into labour later that day so it didn't matter, but I'm not surprised you're cheesed off. I would kick up one god almighty fuss and get very angry!!

How are you and LO?

True... I was told with risk of infection you should be induced by drip if failed induction 24 hours after waters go. That's what happened with me and bobs your uncle 20 hours later along comes Henry x

I guess it would be the right thing to update everyone... I'm only 11 months late in doing so! So sorry!

So I ended up finally being taken over that evening, instantly took the epidural (I felt like I had failed but my reasoning was that I had mentally been through enough) so they broke my waters (awkward as they were behing my babys head) then all night nothing was happening, contracting but not dilating. Got to the next day and I had still only got to 3cm, and that's when my Consultant (who had been off for a week) returned to work and was so not happy that I was still there and pregnant and then made the decision that I needed a C-section as there was no progress! So 12:31pm on 6/5/14 my beautiful baby boy was finally born via c-section weighing in at 8lbs 6 1/2 oz. Turns out it was never his head that was being felt it was his shoulder trying to come down the birth canal! He was also back to back but that was never ever picked up on (or so that's what I was told) to say I felt like I had been put through the mill is an understatement and don't even get me started on post-op.... they were awful! I could barely move but when I woke in the morning they had taken my lo and when returned he was covered in his own faeces and sick, and no one showed me how to bath him until the midwife came to visit at home and she wasn't happy. Needless to say I don't want to go through that again anytime soon!

However, I now have a healthy, happy 11 month old that is currently crawling around trashing my living room with his toys and that's all I could ask for :-) xx

Thanks for the update. Sorry you had a rough time :(. It sounds like they didn't really manage everything in the best way. Glad your LO is well though and congratulations!
