Hey ladies... 1st baby so excuse if it's a silly question!

Baby blankets... What do I need for the Moses basket? And where do you buy them? Do you get like a fitted sheet for the Moses basket? We have a mamas and papas one so imagine its quite a standard size!

And then the same for the pram... Do you get fitted sheets for the pram, or do you just lye baby on a blanket? If so what kind? I'm getting the iCandy apple so if anyone has one and knows what to use please let me know!

I'm not due till July but just planning and pricing things up, my head is spinning! Haha!

Any advice would help!!! Thanks ladies!!!xx

You could get fitted sheets. For the moses basket we found that mamas and papas often make their mattresses a slightly different size from everyone else so you need to buy sheets from there too. They can be quite expensive compared with other places but the quality is really good.

For our moses basket and pram carrycot I just bought flat sheets that could be folded round the mattress and so fitted both. I got quite cheap ones from mothercare or tescos I think. To be honest they end up being washed so frequently and they are only used for a short period of time that there was no point in spending too much. I then just used blankets over my LO.

Hope that's helped! I remember being totally baffled with things like this when pregnant with my first! x

Glad I am not the only one confused about baby bedding! I think I will just be using fitted sheets and not bothering with flat sheets....

When it comes to blankets, I still don't know if I should use blankets, swaddling blankets or sleeping bags.... diferent people say diferent things!!

I will be stalking this thread! xx

Us first time mummies are all a bit confuddled in this area it seems!

I bought a vintage Silvercross pram off ebay and have no idea what bedding to get for it. I know my mum used Shawls alot when we were young.
With the latest models you often get a cozy toes with it, but during summer I am guessing I will want something a bit cooler.

...Sorry, No help from me :(

Thanks for all your replies!!! So glad I'm not the only one a bit puzzled! Seen bedding bales on Mothercare website, think I will have to go in and investigate these!xxx

For moses basket and pram (if it has a separate mattress ie not a liner) you could use fitted or flat sheets - I found fitted easier. Pram size cellular blankets will fit nicely in both too.
If baby is sickly you could pop a muslin under their head, so if they are sick its just a case of swapping a dirty muslin for a clean one - handy for if your out and about.

We used blankets when AJ was small and in the moses basket, once he wiggled more and went into the cot we switched to sleeping bags.

As for cozy toes, we kept the liner part on the pram (pads the seat out for little bums) and popped the upper zip in part under the pram in case it turned cold. x

Baby will be sleeping in pram carry cot instead of a moses and we got 4 fitted sheets, i think maybe some flat sheets for on top on the warmer nights and a couple of cellular blankets.
For the cot i have got 4 fittted sheets, 2 flat sheets and 2 cellular blankets.
Sleeping bag will be used for when she goes into the cot at around xmas time as i hear and keep being told not supposed to use them for newborns.
Again for us new mums its a case of trial and error well it is for me loll x

Sophie is in a crib and has a flat sheet down, a grow bag on the bottom and then she sleeps in her grow bag if it's cold. If not she just sleeps on top.

For in the pram she goes out in either her grow bag or just a blanket over her now it's getting warmer. I have a flat sheet in there to protect the mattress.

I also have some smaller sized blankets which were brilliant for when she was in the car seat.

I found you only need a couple of sheets as it doesn't take much to wash and dry them along with other clothes but blankets are useful and grow bags are a must! Very useful things xx

We used the grow bag from being newborn. You're ok to as long as they can't wriggle down in them.

After trying & testing different variations with DD, I will be using brushed cotton fitted sheets and an appropriate weight grobag for the new baby during sleep times at home. In the pushchair, will always have a blanket to hand to fold over and cover up baby if its a bit chilly. Although, as mine will be a summer baby, I think I will be more concerned that baby is in the shade and kept cool at first when out walking. DD is also a summer born and I remember the first few outings with her seemed to be spent frantically adjusting the canopy at every twist & turn so that she didn't get burnt by the sun! If its not one thing, its another!

i used all things in moses basket i used fitting and flannel sheets, buggie only ever use blankets and for cot i used proper fitted sheets and flannel ones again x do what seems right for you x
