whats the quickest way to quit
not only do i wanna quit but my bf wants me to as well..
what shud i do ? anyone manged to quit...?

Well the quickest way is to just go cold turkey, but some people cant do it.

Ive heard those inhaler things are supposed to be quite good :)

I gave up on my first attempt using patches. I planned for it - made sure I had something to do with my hands (took up card making, lol) and I also scared myself silly by reading up loads on all the disgusting, horrible illnesses I could get from smoking - I looked at pics of lung cancer, throat cancer, people with their voice boxes removed.....and when I stopped and I was finding the craving really hard I told myself that whatever I was feeling now was nothing compared to how it would feel to have my toungue cut out or my voice box removed. It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't as hard as I'd imagined it might be..........giving up smoking is my proudest achievement of my life so far (until I have my baby, lol). It is totally worth doing. Good Luck xx

The only way to quit is to really want to, if you don't 100% want to you won't succeed no matter how hard you try.

I have been quitting for about 3 months now and still cave every 3-4 days and have 1. I want to quit but sometimes I want to smoke more and justify it to myself. It's important to pick yourself up and start again if you have 1 and not just smoke a whole pack because you failed.

I think the key is to make sure you reward yourself for doing well. My OH will take me to a restaurant I have wanted to go to for ages once I manage a whole week.

I use the patches (level 2) with top ups of the mini lozenges in times of emergency! It's a good method, just my willpower thats the problem.

Good luck x

I wanted to quit and OH wanted me to quit too.
I quit i the Sept and TTC in Jan. I knew we wouldnt TTC whilst I was still smoking. So that was my motivation. Every time I wanted a ciggie I thought of my LO to be.

I ended up going cold turkey, I'm allergic to the sticky stuff on patches, the inhailers were naff and the lozenges are disgusting.

Giving up is hard, but if you have something to aim for...put ciggie £££ in a jar and treat yourself to clothes/holiday. I think it gives you that motivation to do it.

Good luck :flower:

i went cold turkey have done it about three times now I can just give up and start again if I want one, I just occupy myself with soemthing else. Plus after not conceiving for ages and then getting my BFP I wanted to make sure it stuck and was healthy after my sister smoked throught her pregnancys and her children have problems :(

thanks for all the advice gonna give it a go and see what happens...
