Hi, it's daughters 1st birthday coming up and we'd like to get her a smart trike as a pressie.
Can anyone recommend a particular model as there are so many on the market.

I want to get one a good quality one that will last and can be passed on to next baby and that is more important than the budget.

I got a fisher price one which was ok until the bottom of the push along handle broke! We would take it out in the car a lot and I don't know if it was up to having the handle taken off and on as much as we did. We just took the baby seat bit off it and our eldest uses it as a bike in the garden now.

Personally I wouldn't bother with it with my youngest even if the handle still worked. I found it a pain having to carry stuff around with it, I much prefer the big shopping basket under my pushchair.

We've got the Little Tikes 4 in 1 sports edition in pink...sounds so fancy lol! It was about £80.
Really well made and substantial, this version has a basket at the back for bits and bobs (nappy, wipes, cardi, sun cream) and a large zip pouch on the handle where I put my purse, keys, phone etc. There is a movable sunshade which is handy too, oh and a cup holder :-)
You have to take the handle off to fit in the car...well we do in a Qashqai anyway. It's not difficult though.

The only downside we've found is that dds feet slip from the footrest if she's tired and she keeps scuffing the toes out of her shoes! Now she always wears an old pair on there lol. Xx

Iv also got the little tykes 4 in 1 trike. But the boys version ! Found it perfect and pushes really easy. Think it was the same price around 70-80 xx

We've got the smartrike one and its a godsend for my pushchair refuser.

My oldest loved it and she got one for her 1st bday. I've been putting my 9 month old in it for the past month whenever we're in the garden and she loves being in it. She's secure in it and it keeps her entertained whilst I'm dealing with her sister or other garden related stuff. We sometimes go to the park with the youngest on the trike and my 2.6 old on her balance bike and they both love it. I definitely recommend them!

MrsSmoo and Goat, which models do you have please?

We've got the smart trike dream, we got it from smyths for £105. But I have seen them on gumtree/Facebook for £30thst have only been used once. I so wish I'd checked before we bought it. Lucie loves hers and we go out in it twice a day whatever the weather to walk the dog with it. I just wrap her up in a snowsuit or puddle suit and she loves it. We trek down bridle paths and it handles the terrain no probs and it fits in the car without taking the parent handle off to go to the parks etc.

Thanks everyone for all your advice.
I've finally made a decision and I'm going to get the smart trike dream in blue.
