Has any one else let one of there properties?
Theyve sent DH a checklist before he can get the keys and this is one of them...

Checklist

·Proof of contents insurance cover for the property, if you have not arranged any then please fill in and bring along enclosed leaflet
Bank details to complete standing order mandate for rental payments and also to arrange your direct debit for utility account

What the hell does that mean?

Most companies require you to have insurance for the property..

You shouldnt have to worry if its rented as to buildings insurance as its the landlords job to get that covered.. but household insurance is your job!

As for the bank details im guessing its so they enable they are going to get paid for rent etc...

if your unsure i would ask them to explain a little batter!

it sounds like they enclosed a leaflet for you to fill out for your home contents insurance (if you havnt already got any)

they also want your bank details to arrange rent payments straight from your bank account. You'll need ur account number, sort code, banks address.

if you havent got insurance they will get it for u and send you a bill

ah right, i get it now.

Thanks ladies

Just had Dh emailing me saying how dodgy it all sounds and he was worried and i was sat here almost in tears thinking we would be made homeless (already had to scrounge another 2 days out of our current landlord!)

but theyve emailed him this:

Craig

Apologies for not passing on the info for contents.

For this property you would be looking at prices from £7.50 per month for
cover of £2,500.00 up to £10.50 per month for £10,000.00 (the rate increases
by £1 for every £2,500.00. If you wish to go ahead with this we can arrange
this on the day.

As regards the utilities, you are not obliged to take these but this is
special rate of gas and electric that SLM have with a company called
Southern Electric which is currently cheaper than all the other utility
companies and this is why we are recommending it to our tenants.

Please let us know how you wish to proceed with this.

Regards

Hellen

Phew! :puke:
