When Alice Mae was first born I tried to put her on her back, but she was so tightly curled she always ended up on her side. So sweet. And yet so panic inducing when 'babies must sleep on their backs' has been drilled into you!!

Then she unfolded and slept on her back reasonably happily. There were the usual hiccups with legs getting tangled in the cot and so forth, but she seemed to be sleeping pretty well.

However, the last couple of days she's been turning herself onto her tummy and sleeping for much longer. Yesterday she had something like a 2 hour nap on her tummy and today she is still asleep in her cot now which never happens.

She went to be at 10.30 last night and woke me at 3 and 7 for feeds, but is still asleep at 10!! Glory be!!

She's also able to get to her dummy this way and I know that she's half woken, found it, and gone back to sleep a few times as I've heard little whimpers and gone in to find her spark out with the dummy in her mouth.

So, my question is; would it be okay, now that she can turn herself over, to put her to sleep on her tummy in the first place? Maybe I could get more sleep that way? She's five months old now.

I think so definately. She's comfortable that way and at her age I dont think it would do her any harm. :D

And she's still asleep!! She must have been exhausted poor love...
