it took me three hours to fall asleep last night, i just roll about with really sore back pain and its impossible to get comfortable

I finally managed to drop off, woke up three hours later (at 6am) with loads of back pain and soreness...

Just seems to be getting worse, every day this week its just been the most enormous chore to get to sleep and even when i have found some its been for such a short time

I end up sleeping for three hours at night and three hours in the day at the moment (so knackered that i just fall asleep and have a long nap)

Anyone got any tips? am struggling lots

Oh dear  Can you try getting comfy in a more upright position, supported by lots of pillows? Those V pillows are fab for supporting all sorts of positions. It sounds as if you need to day to rest to BB

Morning RM xxx
yeah i have a V pillow... am going to try supporting under my knees and sleeping on my back a bit - i know its supposed to be really bad for baby but my back cannot handle this anymore and me getting no sleep must be terrible for baby!

bowl of porridge then morning of sleeping for me!

Morning!! I know I'm not as far gone, but wow!! I am the same, luckily for me I have a whole double bed (hubby is away with the Navy) The only way I find best to sleep is: I wrap the double duvet like a sausage roll & then I wrap my right leg over that & sleep on my left! Cus it's hot I use a bed sheet over me, so I'm still comfy!! Also a must is the sleep eye cover - or eye patch like I call them!! It's amazing! Makes the Room REALLY dark & the sun doesn't come in!! It's a must!! Have a try!!

Really hope things get better with the sleeping! Us ladies need our sleep! It's tough growing brand new lifes!! Hehe xxx

ohh i feel ur anxiety! and the heat is not helping. ive tried everything, the only way i fall asleep is during the day! tried stayin awake daytime and goin at nite but with no luck :(
on the plus we will be used to sleepless nights if we have crying babies!! xxx

 theres nothing worse than being tired and unable to sleep!

I hope you find a comfy position, I dontthink sleeping on your back is bad for baby, I think its more that its bad for you cos your baby can squash your vains in your back and make you feel sick & faint. I lie on my back, and have only had it once so I think its just depends on babys position, but if you roll onto your left side when it starts it quickly goes back to normal. Good luck!!

Hey  i have been having the same sleeping trouble! :wall2:

My back and hips are sooooo sore. Lately i have been sleeping on two pillows one under bump and one under my hips, it has helped a bit, oh and then one in between my knees but i am still waking up in the night about every 2 hours. I think i'm just going to have to bear it now until the baby comes.

I did try sleeping upright with a V cushion but it didn't work for me at all.

awww i wake up in the night for like 2 hours usually, it's so annoying.

only thing i can recommend is put a fan on all night, and get a wet flannel and put it on your head/face maybe.. i have swollen feet due to water retention so i elevate my feet with pillows too which usually helps me drift off faster..

everyone is different though! so just experiment and see which positions are best for you :) xxx

Ah there's nothing more frustrating than trying to get to sleep and not succeeding! I have my 'pillow nest' but I'm still up every hour to rearrange myself. I have to get out of bed to change position so it's a really broken sleep. My only advice is to top up with naps, I've not found any magic cures. It's pretty poor sleep hygiene to lie awake for ages, you're supposed to get up and do a quiet non taxing activity to tire you out, but if you're anything like me you'll be exhausted by the time bed comes around.

i managed to get an extra few hours in this morning.... obviously with getting up regularly to maneouvre but still an extra bit
its hard isnt it ladies... and only going to get harder
worst bit is people keep saying to me 'do get your sleep while you can' GAH! i wish i could!

many pillows is the way, sleeping at night is horrendously difficult though, i dont have OH in the bed either, hes been on the sofa for an age because we just cant handle the lack of sleep and he works sooo hard! I miss him
and i miss sleep!

It's weird because i don't mind the fact that when baby arrives i'm not going to get much sleep but at least the sleep i will hopefully get will be more comfy!!

Me too - to lie on my back again comfortably :) to hug my husband without the bump.

Oh i cant wait, i would happily settle for 2 hours of on the back sleep (or sex for that matter ;) ) instead of the few hours of broken, shoulder destroying sleep i am recieving at the moment

Fi needs SLEEPPPPP!!!

Haha

I'm sure the lack of sleep is the reason why i can't be bothered to do a thing all day!

I have to say i'm doing the same as you - catching up in the day - the half term has been a killer as i've only managed one nap :( - lie in tomorrow though :). I have taken to sleeping on sofa again as OH doesn't disturb me and its cooler - it seems to mould to my shape instead of me trying to get comfy with hundreds of pillows that fall out too many times!!!!
