Hey BDers

Just a quick q.
I work as a Nanny (rent-a-mum :D ) and have just found out that the kids I work with have been exposed to both Slap Cheek (never heard of it myself, but looks just like it sounds) and Chicken pox.
AAARRRGGGHHH. I've been told slap cheek is really bad if your TTC, but what about Chicken Pox?? I have a natural immunity to Rebella (thank god  ) would that work for CP as well????

Who would have thought such a dangerous line of work...

sorry ive not heard of slap cheek but i know you have to be careful if your pregnant not to get chicken pox xxxx

Hello

Immunity for Rubella will not protect you from Chicken Pox as it's a different virus altogather. However you will be immune if you have had Chicken Pox as a child. It's possible that you are immune to SCS as approximately 60% of women are immune to parvovirus (Slapped Cheek Syndrome) due to having this illness in the past.

Slapped cheek syndrome is not dangerous unless you are pregnant - and even then known risks to the baby are low. There is minimal risk to the baby if the infection is caught after the pregnancy has reached 20 weeks. However before 20 weeks there is an extra 9% risk of miscarriage and a 3% risk of a condition called hydrops foetalis. Note that these percentages are very low.

Hope this helps

I can't remember (and nor can my darling mum...) But My Brothers have so i guess so?

If you have had chicken pox then you should be immune to it!
:D

not true ive had chicken pox twice once at the age of 6 and then again when luke caught it when i was about 24 doctor told me its unusual but not impossible you can get it again and again xxx

someone i work with her twins have got slapped cheeck i int seen her since but should i keep B away from em?

I think once the rash appears they are no longer infectous, and for kids the disease is usually mild
