Sitting in the Waiting Room!

Well the ultrasound department waiting for my scan to check whats up. I am nervous and needing the toilet. Im also myself seen my hubby has to take tomorrow afternoon off due to the hospital giving us 2 appointments separately. It doesnt hit you that you are going to be surrounded by pregnant women who are even talking about baby names!! Here I am the non pregnant and struggling person! I just kind of feel there should even be a seperate room. Its not the best experience!!! Heres hoping I get some answers.

Well it was quick and uneventful really. Scanned my tummy showed me both ovaries and said there were follicles there. I asked was that normal and he said yes it is for a woman who ovulates. I asked was there any sign of polycistic ovaries and he said no. I asked was it all normal then and his reply was yes as would be expected from a scan/ultrasound. He said that tomorrows appointment was the next step.

Im now thinking does that definetly rule out pcos or what? He wasn't chatty and didn't really elaborate on anything. Kind of hoping to get somewhere tomorrow!

Hey Hun,

Sounds like good news, good that you have follicles too, I wonder why you have follicles when you don't OV, where are you in your cycle?

You know from my experience I wouldn't always trust an ultrasound 100% my septum although it was small wasn't seen on one, don't want to be negative just sharing my experience.

I hated being with all the pregnant ppl too the joy on 1 girls face obviously first scan mum and her oh all screaming and looking at the pictures and I was sooooo jelous and knew I may have to wait a long long time before that was me if ever x

Did see a small cyst on each ovary which he said was "nothing to write home about"

Hey Mel, sorry replied at the same time! Glad it seemed ok for you too! Is it your normal GP your going to?

Maybe- I currently have no cycle as I have had no af since May! Do follicles mean you ovulate? Im totally hopeless at knowing this stuff!

Mel, sounds good Hun.

Laura, when last had a scan it was at the time of OV when you're OVing the follicle is enlarged, probably twice the size of a usual one.

If you had an enlarged one it could be OV but if you have numerous enlarged ones that can indicate PCOS.

Have you been to a fertility specialist or gynae yet?

I don't get what more your GP could do?

Yeah im going to my normal GP as not had any investigation at all i.e. Bloods etc. And wen i saw him last week he said if all was negative and still no af but faint pos on opk's, he would send me to gynae x

Fingers crossed he keeps to his word

Maybe- thanks for explaining that. It makes more sense. He certainly didn't say whether they were big or small follicles.. I did ask him about pcos and he said no that it didnt show signs of it but my friend has said the scan didnt show it for her it was an internal. I have the appointment at 3pm today with the fertility specialist not my gp. So, heres hoping she initiates a next step!

It's such a funny one PCOS, I've not got it according to bloods and I was meant to be borderline from my NHS scan, that means my follicles were a tiny bit enlarged, my private doc laughed at the suggestion, he doesn't think I have it at all.

Good Luck at your appointment today, make sure you make it clear you want some answers and if they suggest more tests ask exactly what the tests are for and what happens if they show something and what happens if they don't.

Also ask what they'll do for your lack of AF if further tests (if the do any) come back ok?

Hey girlies, wee update! Im pretty happy really! Dr was a breath of fresh air she was a no messing about. Done an internal scan, read all my results and heard my history. Said she sees nothing at all to indicate any pcos (internal scan done today) or particular problem but reckons my body justs needs a kick start to ovulate. Could be the stress or the mc itself has just stalled my body.

She is prescribing me clomid(yeah) in order to make me ovulate. I have to have a hsg exam which is the internal balloon of dye first. She said get it as soon as theres an appointment and failing nothing coming up on that ie blocked tubes etc the Ive to phone and she will send the order to my dr for clomid to begin. Phoned straight away and got the hsg xray appointment for 7th Sept!

If there is something in the dye test then I have an appointment in Nov to discuss further options. She made everything simple and really listened and didn't diss me. I can't wait till I hopefully get to ovulate!
