Obviously when pregnant your not supposed to lift heavy things, but what's the definition of heavy things I mean household shopping etc has got to be ok surely!
Any advice x

I think the shoppings ok hun, I hope so anyway! I assume it means don't lift stuff you'll struggle with.xx

Yes if it looks heavy dont risk it. If you can easily manage it then its fine :) xxx

Basically... If you normally life it like day-to-day it's ok. It's anything that would cause any over exertion xx

well I heard they said max is 3 kilos...

I only carry light shopping and leave everything else for my husband :) No need to risk it, is there?

yeah id say light shopping is fine. but the other day i was at work( work on checkouts) and there was a couple doing shopping and the lady was heavily pregnant lifting a six pack of water whiler her partner was just opening bags. i think thats a bit too much x

Anything challenging that would strain your body.
For example if you're trying to move a new sofa into the house, best you let someone else do it rather than yourself!
xxx

I've found also as my bumps got bigger the weight of things i can managed has gone down purely because I've got a massive bump in front of me and can't hug things close to my body anymore.

I regularly lift thinks up to 15kg at work but I've always lifted heavy things so have a bit of strength behind me.

Thanks ladies, think I'll definitely be sorting my work case out, that can be an issue on a good day :) x

i always struggle with this one as im really independant and want to carry on as normal, i moved house while pregnant and moved the sofas and fridge freezer with the help of my 16 year old son.

i also muck out my horses stables and carry hay to the fields, and pull the ragwort,

i dont know if im overdoing it but i feel ok at the moment so will carry on until my body says no.

That's so funny as that was my hubby when I was pregnant, he would always carry anything or mocve anything if I asked , but would have never asked me or thougt ahead -- ooh that looks heavey I should carry it!

The only time he did was after my section, like I had poorly written on my head then!! MEN!

Great thread! I have been wondering about the same thing. Now I feel reassured!:)

I've just been doing the same really only now I dont lift it if I need to strain, so its different for everyone depending on your previous strength. Obviously if hubby is there and I cant be arsed I pull the pregnancy card out lol, he forgets I do all these things myself when he's offshore!
