Hi ladies,

Do any of you know what is the cut off point (in gestation weeks) where you can't be signed off sick, and your employers can make you take your maternity leave early?

I have a friend who's suffering from SPD and I'm saying she should get signed off sooner rather than later.

Thanks ladies

im sorry i have no idea. I didn't want to read and run.. I hope ur friend feels better and gets the time off work.. She must be in pain :( x

Hi, I dont know whether its the same for everyone but at my work ( I work for the NHS) it is 4 weeks before your week of expected childbirth. If you are off sick at this time, they can force start you maternity leave but only if the sickness is pregnancy related. x

The letter I had from work said that if I had any pregnancy related sick leave within 4 weeks of my due date, my maternity leave would automatically start. I think this is standard.

I think it's 4 weeks before the week of your expected delivery, so that makes it 5 weeks. But it doesn't matter if you get signed off at 30 weeks, if you're still off at 35 they can start your leave.

I was told by HR that if I was off sick due to Pregnancy related illness anytime from my 36 week of pregnancy than I would have to take my Mat Leave from then xxx

i work for a local authority, and its 4 weeks if its pregnancy related.... BUT if your off sick n its not pregnancy related its at ur employers discretion if they force it to start early.... mine have said they will automatically make mine start if im off within the 4 weeks.... the non compassionate twats.... lol

xxx

yea its 36 weeks! i was off sick before then with both my two but still took my mat leave from 34 weeks!!
