Amelia is 4 weeks tomorrow and as of last night was really snuffly, thought it was just a runny nose, and today she has turned really mucousy and grumpy and really sleepy (7 hours to the normal 4), not so hungry, she then woke up hungry tonight but wouldn't keep it down and was sick three times before taking two ounces and finally falling back asleep after being really grumpy and crying alot, she doesn't normally cry near enough at all, thinking its just a cold coming out on her and she is just under the weather, her temp is normal and what not but just wondering if you girls had any advice? Like if I should take her to the doctors or if there is anything else that works like water or something, I'm not really sure.

Thanks girls xx

If she's snuffy try putting some vics or olbas oil in a dish on the radiator. Try to increase the humidity in her room.

Raise her cot or the mattress, so her head is higher than her body. Nasal spray is good, calpol do one and then use a "snot sucker" (nuk do one that's good). She won't like it tho, Isla hates me doing it.

If you are worried call your drs and speak to a triage nurse. My drs operate this system and it's good to get advice and they book you in if they deem it necessary.

Lots of cuddles help too

Emma x

Agreed!! Sophia's already had two colds, bless her, and second time round I was ready with the cot lifting and calpol spray (which she doesn't actually mind) and has coped a lot better this time.
Oh, and lots of hugs!!

Poor little thing, sounds like the start of a cold to me.

The snot sucker is amazing, you wouldn't believe how much comes out! I had to fight zac to get it near his nose though, but worth it so he could breath!

If she won't have milk then offer water to keep her hydrated. And of course lots of mummy cuddles xxx

Awww hope she feels better soon. I think the advice from professionals I read somewhere is to take a baby under 3 months to the Dr at any sign of illness but tbh I'm not sure what they would tell you to do any differently to the advice on here. X

Hope she's feeing better soon, lots of mummy cuddles. Oscar's only had 1 cold and I could never get on with the nose sucker thing, I found it easier when he was snuffling and could see bogeys to gently hold down the opposite nostril and when he breathed the bogey would go in and out and just gently tease it out lol

I wouldn't do that for anyone but my son lol

Aww bless her, like the other girls have said it does sound like a cold, poor thing! C had his very first cold last week, and I found that the Calpol plug in vapouriser really helped him at night along with everything the other girls have suggested.

I hope she feels better soon!! Xx

I don't think you can use the calpol plug until they are 3 months, it is quite strong x

Caitlin had a cold this week, only thing you can use is the saline spray, you cant use any vapourisers or vics etc

Yeah she isnt really allowed anything until she is 3 months according to the packs! But I gave her some karvol on a bib, left it on my bedside so it was near her moses basket so it wasn't too strong for her and it seemed to help, used a nose sucker and my god she hated it! She is still snuffly the now but she is much much better, thanks girls :) xx
