Should I be worried?!

Morning!

Now I know this is going to sound really weird that I'm worried about this but my 11 wk old son Reggie had his last bottle last night at 7.45, in bed asleep by 8.30, I did a couple of dummy runs in the night and he finally woke at 5.30 for a feed but only took 4oz which is surprising as that is the longest he's ever slept/gone without milk, he's now fast asleep again!!!!! I would of thought he'd be ravenous. Could something be wrong? His feeds change all the time but for the past week or so his schedule has been -

Last feed between 7.00/8.00

Night feed anywhere between 2.00/4.30

Morning feed anywhere between 7.30/8.30

Then every 3/4 hours in the day. He will normally take 5/6oz a feed and has 5 feeds in 24hrs. We don't have set feed times and feed on demand when he's hungry but as I say the past 2 weeks he's settled into 5 feeds a day.

I'm now worried that he won't get enough milk today and it'll be a knock on effect and mess things up. He will only take his bottle when he wants so trying to feed earlier will result in him just refusing it.

Should I be worried or just enjoy the extra sleep and roll with it?!

Roll with it! Babies know what they need/want just follow his lead! They go through ups and downs with their intake depending on their growth spurts, he'll probably have a couple of days of not drinking much and then go back to guzzling :) xx

Agree with mrs_b_x. Just go with it! Some babies even out their intake over a week rather than a day and they will have growth spurts and times where they require more and vice versa.

I had a similar worry a couple of.weeks ago,my lo is fourteen weeks today. Last night she fell asleep at 8pm, we put her up in her crib with the monitor on (we usually just hold her until we go to bed but she's getting uncomfy). That was her out until 7am this morning. No dunny runs, nothing. She's woke up,taken a bottle and is about to drop back off again. Agree with the others, roll with it. Just when you think you have them figured out....

Enjoy the extra sleep and try not to worry. Babies will feed if they are hungry. You might be lucky and have one that starts sleeping through at an early age. Hope it continues! xxx

Sounds like they're starting to get used to sleeping through, my LO was about that age when he did. He would wake up and only take an Oz before nodding back off!

Thanks everyone. After his 4oz at 5.30 he slept until 8!!!! Gave him a bath and he polished off 7oz at 8.45 so making up for it. Usually just make up 6oz but think I'll up it to 7 for the rest of the day and see how he gets on.x

They are such a worry but try not to. Like you've seen they will make up for it at other times. Enjoy the break :-)

Yup sounds like he's going to make up for it in the day. Like I said at that age he dropped night feeds but in the last couple of hours before bed he would guzzle about two 5oz bottles quite soon after one another. So he would make up for it in the day.

I used to obsess over how much my lo took. Now I don't pay much attention,I'll notice if it drastically changes. She started taking less and less in her bedtime feed which was around midnight, now she's cut it out completely. I make 8 Oz bottles all the time, sometimes she takes 5, others she empties it. As I said then the last night feed ddisappeared. Your lo will keep you right, sounds like he might be cutting out the early morning feed, which will be lovely :D

He's fine don't worry, my lo is the same. Sometimes a takes a couple of ounces at 2am ish then he won't want anything until lunch time the next day! Then other times he will take a full 8oz at 6 then want feeding again at 9! They let you know when they need more!
