Shadow on scan

Hi all, My step mum is 10 weeks pregnant and has just had a scan today they said everything looks fine, but there was quite a large shadow they couldnt identify apparently they said they wernt too worried at the moment and wouldnt investigate further. Has anyone had this before? What could the shadow be?
