I had my 25 week appointment today with the MW and I feel so deflated :(

I've seen this particular MW on 2 previous occasions, and she had the same affect on me then too. She just rushes through the necessary checks and doesn't listen, I also asked her about the £190 Health in Pregnancy Grant form and she just said oh we dont do that you have to get in touch with social services and we fill in the back form. Now if you go into the inland revenue website its says there that you get the form from your MW. I just couldn't be bothered pursuing this with her.

I'm also classed as high risk (due to stopping AD's @ 5 weeks) and she just was not interested, I've been feeling very low the last couple of weeks and just couldn't bring myself to really tell her much and I don't feel she particulary cares. she just added to me notes 'feeling slightly better' I didnt correct her.

Oh I dunno, I know we all can't gel with everyone in this world but this MW just is crap imho, the other MW I saw once (who is now away) was brilliant, she listened and never let me feel like I was on a time limit. I know they have other ladies to see and they can't over run but I think they should have a manner about them that suggests they are interested even if they really couldn't give a poop.

OK rant over!

Anyway, my measurements are good, fundal height is as it should be, baby's HB was loud and clear 150 bpm, blood pressure 72/114 and wee all good. So I can relax knowing all the essentials are fine.

I just think its important to trust and feel comfy with the MW, I just hope she is not there at the birth. LOL rant is now deffo over!

Sorry just needed to vent girls.

In the front of the yellow book, it has a section about changing midwives if you're not happy. . .
I know what you mean though, I was SO upset when I went in at 16 weeks and she wouldn't do the heartbeat, infact I was that stressed that my blood pressure was through the roof (back to normal now)
I suppose to them, they see hundreds of pregnant women so each individual case doesn't mean as much to them as our pregnancy does to us?!

Oh I dont have a yellow book? Just my notes. Just looked through my notes and nothing about changing my midwife :wall:

She is pants I tell ya pants, she has even wrote in my notes 'baby active' and she didnt even ask me whether the baby was active or not!!!!!!! Thankfully baby is active :D

Sorry, duh! I thought everyone had one. .
Mine says 'if you want to change your midwife, please contact the Antenatal or Community Midwifery Manager on. . . . '
So it must be possible? I think it's important for you to feel comfortable?
Personally I was hoping for somebody older and a bit more of a mother figure type? But hopefully she knows her stuff :)

okey dokey thanks. I think what I'm going to do is when I make an appointment request one with the other midwife, there are 2 I can see and its just been unfortunate that I've seen the MW I dont like. Just found out the other MW's name so I'll be able to request her and see how she is compared.
