Hi, ive been self employed for a year, hopeing not to have to take alot of time off but if any complications etc mean i have to just wondered if there was anything i could claim ? Thanks

yes you can claim a maternity allowance- which is 6 months of the stat pay that everyone gets- go to your local job centre for the forms

You can get 39 weeks of maternity allowance x

Ah thanks, i wasnt sure i could get anything, do u have to take the whole thing? Or could you just take afew weeks/months? I dont want to let all my clients down ? Cant afford alot of time off, but really want some bonding time with just me baby, and obv my other lo when hes not at school lol, and oh when hes not at work x

You can take as little or as much as you like :) you need to get a form from the jobcentre any questions and there's a helpline number on there and I found them to be very friendly.
It's quite straightforward if you're self employed though, think I just needed my tax reference number and you get paid a set amount of approx £125 a week that's paid fortnightly in arrears xx

Thats or8 then, ill have to look into it thanks x

I'm self employed too and I'm planning on taking the full 39 weeks off & using the
Mat allowance to go towards the wage of my replacement.xx
