Basically as the title. I am self employed and wondered if I get any tax allowance or maternity pay ?

yes you can apply for maternity allowance https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/eligibility

there is quite a simple form, if you've been self employed for at least 26 weeks in the 66 weeks prior to the baby due date you should be able to get the full 39 weeks.

As you wont have paid any NICs yet for 2018 it will come back saying you qualify for the lower rate but if you choose to refer your claim to the NIC department and pay the voluntary class 2s, then they up it to the higher rate.

You'll need a form from your midwife to send off with the claim form. You can apply any time from 26 weeks up to and even soon after the birth

Hi thanks for the reply, I thought you could claim something. :)
