Hi Guys, I’m pretty new to all of this so here is my first post...

Having stopped taking my contraceptive pill almost 18 months ago, my husband & I are still ttc.

I am now looking for some answers and having started the process of accessing private healthcare treatment understand why I am experiencing amenorrhea. Aged 28, currently living what I would deem a healthy lifestyle – I regularly exercise, I eat a balanced diet, I sleep roughly 8-9 hours a day but I do have a tendency to experience low moods and exhaustion.

So far I’ve had several blood tests which confirm I do have a low estrogen count, my NHS gynaecologist has questioned recommended further tests with an endocrinologist however I have given up waiting for the NHS and have opted to go private.

Whilst all of this happening, I am trying to answers – I’m concern that perhaps my choice of exercise may be putting too much stress on my body, I like to do Crossfit style workouts, typically I train for 6 hours per week, 25% being at a high intensity. I take 2 rest days and aim to spend at least 15 minutes practising yoga daily. I eat at least 2,500 calories intuitively and I do have a history of anorexia 3 years ago. I spent around 2 years following restrictive diet which led to almost 3 stone of weight loss.

I seem to spend all my free time googling, and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations …

Hi HKW, I'm currently going through the same thing. I've had secondary amenorrhea for 11 months now and been to nhs gynos who were no use at all. They recommended I see an endocrinologist and the nhs waiting list was huge so I ended up paying to see one privately and it was the best money Ive spent. Just 1 appointment and he diagnosed what he thought was wrong from my previous tests and gave me a prescription for Dostinex because I have raised prolactin.
I would say if you can, definitely see someone privately for just 1/2 appointments and then ask to be transferred back to the nhs for ongoing treatment once you have your answers. Its well worth it from my experience. Good luck!
