Ah! I love this Scottish name thread!
Cameron was on our list!
I like Fraser, and Angus too.
What about Calum, traditional Scottish spelling - or Callum?

Ah, still thinking these thru!! Calum is soooo common up here, every second kid called it! same for Cameron-also my nephews name!

We brainstormed last week...... We now also have Kyle, Muir, Brodie, Bruar (we were driving home and going past/thru some places!). Also, explained that Rory means red-headed, (o/h is a retired ginger!!) So Ruairidh is back in play!! hurrah! Eoin after my dad may sneak in there too!

Just want a guid, strong Scottish name!! So many to choose from!!

Loving reading through this as I'm in the same boat!
We live in Shetland, we have 2 lasses Charlie Anne and bryanie Rachel a wee boy drew Stanley I went to the Deen a few weeks ago for a private scan an were expecting a boy! Very chuffed. But the name game is awful! My work mates have started a list most unusual is ertchy! We have Ross, ewan,Ellis, broody, Lewis, Erland (my favorite) Ely, Walter, Brooke and so the list goes on .......
good luck n hope u find something that suits,

My OH already has three boys with Scottish names.....Blaine, Lachlan and Kaeden xxx

Serious bumping of thread going on here (you have probably all had your babies by now ) but this is just my kind of topic, some great name ideas here!

Despite being married to an Englishman, we have a McD surname and some of my favourite names may be too Scottish for a 50% English baby! We have a surname which is hard to spell (McDoughnut an often mispelling) so feel we need a simple name that baby won't have to spell every day of his or her life, which rules some names out.

For girls, I like Heather, Fiona, Elspeth (my favourite), Ailsa (taken), Flora (margarine ), Iona, Isobel, Eilidh, Shona, Caitlin, Morag.

For boys; Angus, Stuart, Murray (my favourite but vetoed as two surnames), Alistair (second favourite but could be hard to spell), Duncan, Gordon, Blair, Donald, Douglas, Fergus, Hamish, Fraser...

I'm from Musselburgh btw, good to see a decent Scottish contingent from the east!

Hey I'm the same married to an englishman with a MacD surname xx I love traditional names like my own I love eilidh but I'm not allowed it and I hate anglicised spelling to me they don't look right xx

Completley agree on anglicised version of Eilidh (although I am a hypocrite as I have Shona on my list ;) )

Great names coming up here-our favourite for a girl is Iona Belle (after my dog!) and for a boy Finlay Alexander (think simple spelling, nae Gaelic!)

We'll wait and see what pops oot-may look like a Nigel!! Gads!

Either boy or girl, the second middle name will be my dad's clan name-also a Mac!!! i carry our name as my middle name also-up here its tradition, so i want to pass it on! o/h aint so sure, but he gets the surname, so i'm pushing for middle name!!

*nods to you fae the north east!*
