Scan..

Hi guys just wondered has anyone else had a prob like this and will it effect anything or mean anything bad ...

I am currently 12 n half weeks preg only just had my first scan letter through the post .. And its not until anuva 3 weeks which means i will be 15 n half weeks :/ doesnt that defeat the object of having an early 12 week 1 and the later 20 week one? ..
Will they be able to tell the sex at 15 n half weeks?
I just feel like none of the professionals are that bothered kinda like im on my own.

If you've opted not to have the nuchal measurement taken then 15 and a half week scan is fine. If you wanted to have the nuchal measurement taken I think 15 and a half weeks might be too far along and you'll need an additional blood test.

I found out the sex at a scan at 15 weeks and one day, so you might be lucky.

If you did want the nuchal measurement taken, I'd be tempted to ring the hospital and get them to move it forward, perhaps they havent appreciated that you'll be that far along?

I dont really no tbh! Im kinda useless to all this pregnancy stuff its my first and im 20 so feel abit alien to it all ... Not sure what the nulcher measurement is tbh .. :/ not really sure what anythink is x

Yeah i did .. Me n my partner said yes as they said they changed the tests from apparently what they used to do to test for downs .. But not sure wether want it now as just think im havin it regardless and il love it regardless so does it matter :/

Sorry, the nucal measurement is one of the measurements that they take at the scan to assess the risk for downs, you would have opted in or out of that measurement being taken at your last midwife's appt.

I'd be tempted to ring the ultrasound dept at your hospital and ask them if htey can shift your date sooner, I know a couple of ladies on here that have done that successfully.

It depends how busy the hospital is. my first scan with my first child want till 16weeks and they told me they sex, with my second it was at 14weeks they said too early to tell.
didnt get offered 20week scans with them.

this time scan was at 11+4 ans 19+4 but had more scans for other reasons x

The scan for downs syndrome can be done up until 13+5 weeks I believe but like others have said I would call the department and reitterate that you want the scan earlier etc x
