Hi - does anyone know if it's safe to use saunas and Steam rooms while pregnant. My midwife told me to avoid Jacuzzi's as the water is too warm and might infect you but has anyone heard of concerns about anything else - my sister's got a free gym pass for me to use the swimming facilities where she goes.

As far as i am aware you arent meant to use any of these as it increases your temperature too much

I think you have to be really careful about raising your body temperature too high, in case your LO overheats. I would use the pool but stay away from the sauna and steam rooms until after your bubs arrives.

Oh please girlies :) You are allowed to go to sauna as long as you are feeling ok. I've been going to sauna every week and all of my doctors have said it is absolutely fine. Just not too long at once. But if you're feeling ok then it's perfectly fine! Enjoy! x

Thats the thing. Moderating it. Raising your core body temp above a certain level when PG is not advised, hence no strenuous workouts, hot tubs etc.

As I understand it a sauna can be ok so long as you don't allow yourself to overheat. People have to know what their limit is and many don't feel comfortable being able to make that judgement call so avoid saunas etc.

My doc said it's not worth risking it.

I have to sit outside in the cold bubbly bit of the pool and talk to hubby while he sits in the nice hot jaccuzzi. I tell him people have probably had a pee in it and he's just sitting in warmed up pee  .
