sad news at 13 week scan

I just wanted to add, Claire, that I had misunderstood: I had thought your diagnosis was at your 20 week scan (rather than your 13 week) which is probably why the doctors were considering a surgical termination. I'm not sure if you'll still get to "meet" your baby if born so early, but as they're fully formed at that stage, I don't see why not. You should still be able to consider seeing him/her, if you want to.

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this, Claire. In a way, I think it's tougher on women who already have children to lose a baby, because you are already a parent and the whole family get involved in awaiting the new arrival, so you have your other children to think about too whilst you and your partner are emotionally fragile yourself.

I hope that you're able to get lots of support. Be kind to yourself.

I am so sorry for you and your family my thoughts and prayers are with you

I think letting your baby go is the hardest thing in the world to do but sometimes it is the most loving thing you can do if you know that they will not survive. I had a termination and it broke my heart but I knew my baby would not survive and I believe that I handed her over into Gods hands. Loving hands which could care for her in a way I never could.
