I took Connor for his 8 month check yesterday and when I was asked how weaning was going, I said "fine, he eats what I eat - I've done baby led weaning", the lady broke into a huge smile and actually clapped me

She said she sees so many babies who have problems with lumps and bits in their food after starting on purees, and she can't understand why more people wouldn't use the BLW method. She didn't know much about the practicalities of BLW though and I'm the first mum who's actually come in and told her that they're doing it; I spent a while telling her about the research behind it all and she wrote notes, LOL. :D

She also loved the fact that I wear Connor most of the time.

It all made up for the fact that when I arrived at the appointment and undressed Connor, I found that he'd pooed (despite going just before we'd left) and I didn't have a spare nappy or wipes or anything

Great stuff  It's great when someone else bigs up what you're doing.

My HV looked at me like I was an alien when I said that we had ditched the purees in favour of her feeding herself food more like what we're eating

Yay, well done you! You're an inspiration!

   You deserve it.... it takes perseverance and its not easy going against the norm to do whats best by your child

At lil miss' 9 month check... I was told we were risking lil miss' life by giving finger food and our food in terms of choking  I was also told to give up breastfeeding and to move her onto this formula sample she was going to give me (i asked if it was illegal to give samples to bfing mums, knowing full well it is and it quickly vanished  )

     :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: for you and :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: for your health worker! I hope you're very proud!
