Hello everyone. I had a section birth on Monday and was told to look out for signs of infection. Post op vaginal bleeding is now quite a small amount but (and I'm sorry if this is tmi) it does smell a bit funny. Thing is, I can't really remember what blood smells like whilst you're havin normal vaginal bleeding. Has anyone been unlucky enough to have an infection after a c-section and if so, what were the symptoms? My wound still has it's original dressing on (which is like bubble wrap) and I'm not due to have the wound looked at until tomorrow. The general area around the wound is uncomfortable but that could be made worse by the stitches and the dressing pulling my skin. I do have a midwife coming today so will ask her advice when she turns up. xxx

It's so strange how it varies everywhere, I had my dressing off 10 hours after... How strange! I was lucky not to have any infection so I can't help there, but my blood smelt funny after too, and looked very nasty on my pads, should slow down and stop soon tho Hun :) xxx

I had my dressing off the next day, the scar was painful for a long time with me tbh. I hated that I had a section. My discharge stank of dampness sort of, but wasn't infected. My scar did get infected and that was pus and bright red. You'll know
Xx

Violet will be 2 weeks old today. I'm still bleeding and it is heavier some days than others. I have noticed that there's a section of my c-section wound that seems to be a bit wet and doesn't look to have healed completely. Is this something I need to ask the midwife about or do I gave to make an appointment with my GP? I'm due to see the midwife again but not until next Friday so thought it would be too long to leave it if anything is starting to go a bit funny. xxx

Unless it's bright red, pus filled or you're running a fever then don't worry too much, probably not infected. Mine was wet at 10 weeks and gp won't do anything just said let it heal. And take it really easy. I cleaned the bathroom at 7 weeks pp and it set me back big time! Xx
