I have baby lotion, baby oil, sudacrem and talc!! WTF do I use and in what order on baby.

I am so confused... And also worried about holding an oiled up baby lol!

I just read today in one of my pregnancy magazines that you should not be using Talc /talc products on your baby as it can cause trouble with their lungs and breathing. As far as everything else though....I have no clue on the order! :X Sorry I couldn't be of help there, although I'm right with ya on being worried to hold a slicked up baby!

We were told at parenting classes not to use anything other than johnsons top to toe wash until they are about 3 months or so as their skin is so sensitive.

We have loads of the stuff but will prob use it when he is older.

my M/W told me to use nothing until there 3 months old besides cotton wool and water.... erm... i think im gona take that with a pinch of salt, water and cotton wool ( that my hubby HATES and is a little bit scared of, no idea why but :-S ) i dont think is gona get rid of all that yukky stuf from them when there born or poop... so johnsons all the way for me!!

my SIL uses top to toe wash in the bath, talk after shes dry n avoids baby lotion except areas that are dry like elbows n knees etc, anywhere like hands and fingers she was told are a big no no cos its meant to be toxic

xxx

my sister told me not to use talc either causes cot death :( I was like huh ....

So confused to use what I have been given now for my baby unless I just nick it and use on myself lol x

I am using cotton wool and water and the top to toe and if baby has dry skin olive oil nothing else not til he is a bit older

I was told top 2 toe wash or water n cotton wool until they are 3 and baby oil when massaging the baby. Although im illergic to baby oil so that bit is down to OH! Talc can affect their lungs.

When you use baby oil the baby shouldnt be slippery lol. Same as if u use it on yourself! Its just used for when u massage them. :D

Good question, I have like nappy cream if they get sore I guess you wipe and apply that, my friend puts talc under armpits if they get a bit sore, I've got talc powder and liquid talc from asda which sounds good to me! I've forthe johnsons baby kit thing that someone bough me and it has everything. Think I'm just gonna use top to toe wash until 3 months then start using the baby bath and shampoo etc.
I think it's silly that they are now saying talc is bad, I think every one one of us has had talc on as babies, and we are all fine. Just seems a bit silly to me as long as your my shoving up their nose! X

It's basically like johnsons baby bath, you just put a couple of drops in the bath water and wash away :) apparently you can put a few drops of johnsons baby oil in the water if they have dry skin. Im not actually sure what to use the oil for? Can you use it all over their body? X

Talc can be bad for babies especially females as it gets up inside them, Im sure when I did my degree there is documented evidence of women having talc deposits on there ovaries etc, females are advised not to use talc, so I certainly won't use it on a baby

talc you hear so many storys last cracker i heard form my firends midwife..... it gives the baby cancer WTF ?

my mum used talc on me and i still use it lol my lungs are ok i think lol i cant get dried without it

I used water & cotton wool for the first 3 months & then switched to a gentle baby bubble bath. There is so much bad press about talc that I think it's silly. As long as you don't use it every time & all over then they'll be fine. Babies armpits can get sore as even when you think they're dry they can still be damp. We used to put a small amount in our hands first & then dab it onto our little ones armpits. I also swear by Bepanthen cream - I found it far better than Sudocream. When Our son was teething he has toxic nappies & his bottom used to get so sore. If we used Sudocream it took about 3-4 days to clear his rash, but Bepanthen if applied at night you could see a huge improvement by the following morning. It's totally fragrance free too - so it won't sting your little ones when applied. I never used baby oil or lotion. If our sons skin was dry we would use Oilatum bath emulsion & cream when he was a little older & olive oil when he was newborn.
Hope this helps.
