Hi all, I have had some unsettled nights as expected with some back pain and needing the loo alot but managed but the last 2 nights due to only what I assume is restless legs, an achey very annoying feeling in my calf muscles I have bad insomnia and can't sleep until 3am. Had to go home from work half way through as after lunch felt like awful, so sleepy and out of it due to lack of sleep and exhaustion I couldn't even think straight. I thought due to being that exhausted I'd get a decent night's sleep. Got an epsom salt bath and it helped initially but soon the restless feeling in my legs came and the more I thought about it the worse it got. Ended up with 3hrs sleep again and had to call in sick to work as couldn't face it. I've googled on advice but it seems its just another pregnancy side effect, I am now dreading going to bed and felt like crying with frustration last night. Anyone else suffering too or any advice? The thought of enduring this for another 2 months when I have to work seems impossible.

Ah I really feel your pain I had awful restless legs from about 32 weeks up until when I gave birth, I never managed to get rid of it completely but I did find that eating bananas, pineapple and taking my multi vitamin every day helped to ease it a little, I used to lie in bed for hours though with my legs twitching and squirming, pleased to say as soon as I gave birth it went, the only advice I can give it try and make sure your diet is as rich in nutrients and iron as possible, no one knows what causes it but there’s some theories about certain nutrient deficiencies x

I had awful insomnia last time. Almost from the start I would wake up between 2-3.30am every single morning. As the pregnancy progressed it took longer and longer to get back to sleep until eventually I was just up from that time and had to take a nap in the afternoon.
The worst part was everyone's very 'helpful' comment of "It's just your body preparing you for the sleepless nights to come!" Like, thanks Sandra, that's exactly what I needed to hear... NOT!"

This time round I'm mostly sleeping ok (thank God!) but the restless legs in the evening are awful. I've found that if I'm wearing leggings or even pj bottoms it's much worse. Usually if I take those off and lie on the couch with my feet up it gets a little better. Also I tend to feel a bit better if I drink some water.

Hope this helps. Hang in there!
