Morning everyone!

So I seem to be suffering from restless leg syndrome. My knees mainly, but also last night in my ankles where they just keep jerking by themself ~ feels a bit like an electric shock. Such a pain as its meaning I am not getting to sleep until the early hours, and then keep jerking myself awake.

Any words of wisdom? I do most of the advise I can find on the Internet anyway, like a bath before bed, exercise through the day, so don't really know what else to do. Just seen pharmacist to see if there is anything like deep heat I can use, or any kind of freeze spray but they can only advise you to see a doctor. Really don't want to waste a doctors time with making an appointment though. Help??!!

I know you aren't going g to want to hear this but I suffered in my last pg n starting to this time n found nothing really works!!!

Sometimes a little walk or massaging them would ease it buy at night nit much did I'm afraid. Did go away straight after tho n I didn't get it really often but feelur pain it is so annoying.

Thanks for replying Michelle, as I hadn't got any joy from Google or pharmacist I assumed this was the case, but was hoping someone may have some very wise words of wisdom! I had it one night in my pregnancy with belle and then never again! It's so blinking annoying, my knees felt really weak this morning like I had been on a big hike just where I had been busy all night! Hope yours doesn't get any worse for you xx

Woke up at 5.30am this morning as I have done for 2 weeks now with major cramp in my right knee went on all fours you would think I had been shot in the knee. Getting to sleep at night is a hassle also tossing and turning. Anyway all I can do Is walk it off for a few mins. Was like a burst couch this morning at work as was so tired! X

I found that the (boots) sanctuary pregnancy set which contained a cooling foot and leg gel helped me. My hubby would rub each foot for a couple of minutes with this every night just before I wanted to go to sleep. Not sure if it was just the relaxation or the thought that I was doing something to help it that made a difference but I did find it eased the horrible restless feeling enough that I could fall asleep. And then I didn't seem to get it during the middle of the night.

Hope that helps x

I've suffered with restless legs since being little and never found anything to really cure it, but the body shop cooling leg gel helps massively if they are really playing up, means I can get to sleep

I had a post very similar to this in tri 2, in sure the girls were telling me that eating starchy things like banana would help loads!
I feel your pain, it drives me insane! OH thought I was mad doing star jumps round the living room last night

I've had this a few nights, it's infuriating! Apparently tonic water helps due to the quinine or something in it. I also find raising my legs on a couple of cushions at night helps a bit too xx

I had this and found wearing sport compression socks really really helped as did a soak in a bath.x

Thanks everyone! Was so tired when I posted this last week and wondering how I would get through 12 more weeks of it! I found the idea of using pregnancy creams works so well! I got the mumma bee cooling foot lotion and put this on my feet, ankles and knees every night after a bath. It had helped so much! Don't know how I didn't think of it as that was literally what I wanted, but I was automatically going for the medicated ones like deep heat or bio freeze. Anyway it's great, makes your legs freezing but has helped me no end! Hope some of the rest of you get some good ideas off here too xxx
