So I get RLS on a normal day, seems to run in the family.

For me personally, it's triggered by tiredness. If I get too tired (force-your-eyes-open tired) my legs will cramp and I can't keep them still long enough to drift off.

First trimester being the wonderful time of sickness, exhaustion and bowling ball boobs we all know; I am constantly tired, and as a result I cannot get rid of my RLS!

It only affects me when sitting or laying, and during pregnancy it seems I get it in my arms too! It's awful, really uncomfortable and frustrating. If I could sleep 22 hours a day it'd be fine!

The extra tiredness is causing extra RLS. On a normal day a 10 minute nap will get rid of it, during first tri however, I am now actually waking up from the desire to move after solid blocks of sleep! And once I'm up, I need to pee, and I'm another hour trying to become comfortable and exhausted enough to ignore my fidgeting limbs and nod off.

Does anyone else suffer?
I need suggestions please! I'm so tired :(

Hey sorry I'm thread hopping, however I suffer RLS and like yourself was horrendous during my previous pregnancies, apparently a banana before bed helps! Also dr suggested that I didn't do any physical activities after tea time as I was going for a walk before bed every evening hoping it would help and she suggested that was the worst thing to do.
I really feel your pain and I don't think people understand how frustrating it is! I don't like tonic water so I've never tried it but that's suppose to be great for cramping etc!
Hope you get some relief soon!

I’ve heard drinking tonic water can help? Something to do with the quinine in it

Shame you’re not allowed to add gin in really

Thank you very much! I've not heard tonic works before, will definitely be buying a bottle! What so you mix in it? Seems gin isn't allowed haha

I had it terribly in both my previous pregnancies, light exercise worked for me.

Laying on the bed and raising a bended leg in the air, and alternate.

Point your toes, rotate your ankles etc

It's horrific though, I feel for you

Thanks Chase, I try all of that.
Only thing that works is OH rubbing the area until I nod off, but he works away so it's not always an option.

Can we use Deep Heat/Freeze?

I have been getting all over body RLS in the last few months, always in the middle of the night. I try to describe it to people but all I can come up with is it really hurts but not in a typical 'ouch' kind of way! It got really painful at one point but it wasn't what I'd normally describe as pain....

I had no solutions, just wanted to chip in, lol.

I know people who have just bought the flavoured tonic water like lime or lemon and apparently one glass a day is suffice
