Would you/Do you use them? I am going to get Jake some now that he is walking and I was just wandering what everyone's views on them are. I know some people don't like them because they think it's like having your child on a lead but personally I would rather that than lose Jake when wanders off.

I use them at the mo as i'm teaching Keeley to hold hands but if she lets go i know i've still got her.. i hate seeing people dragging there kids along with them tho :x

When my neice was young she used to have reins and would go round barking like a dog

i have just brought some...mainly for when we go to spain in may i hate seeing toddlers wandering close to the pool...my LO for sure will not be doing that he will be secrured to my hand by reins.

im also gonna use them daily (shopping etc)

i think having them is a better safety precaution thn having them classed as a "lead" there re so many weirod people wandering around the place especially in shops :shakehead: so im all for reins at least u know where ur LO is

I have some which we use occasionally.

TBH I do feel a bit scared when I'm walking along the pavement with the pushchair and Ella's walking as it would only take a second for her to dart in the road. She's so disobedient at the moment she'd run out in the road just to annoy me! I don't use them very often but I do think they are useful, and rather a dog on a lead look than a flat dead child in the road look :)

I have some for Aimee which I sometimes use. Not very often now but I'd say half of the time when she was younger. It depends where you are. If we were by a road or water or in the shopping centre then she will have them on but if not she either holds my hands or just does her own thing. She likes to run :D

I do very much understand the idea that they are like having your child on a lead. I just don't see the problem with that. You put a dog on a lead to make sure it doesn't run off and get in to mischief or danger. It sounds like an excellent idea to keep toddlers out of mischief (or as much as possible :D ) and danger.
I personally don't like the ones that go round their wrists. It's a bit silly, they just seem like a less safe way of holding the child, even though holding hands doesn't. So that's probably me being odd. I'll get the chest ones though.

We got some when Olivia started walking, Olivia is quite good at holding ur hand in the street! If we are popping to the shop across the road or popping round the corner to my mums i often walk her but dont bother putting the rains on

We tend to use the rains when we go into town or round the super market, if Olivia gets bored we will take her out the pram or trolley and let her walk! I wouldn't dare let her loose without them temptation gets the better of her and she runs wild :rotfl:

will definatly use them...for all the reasons above...rather have her on a lead then not have her at all 8)

i only used them a couple of times with millie because she was really good and never ran off, however ryan might be a different story when he gets older

Well I like to have my son in some sort of restraint as he is so unpredictacle, however for us, most reigns don't work because as soon as Ky feels any resistence on them from me, the little bugger just sits down and flat out refuses to move!..so I end up carrying him or using the pushchair.

The only thing that he doesn't mind so much is his littlelife rucksack with the reigns...but after a while even with that he messes around and twists round in it.

I used them for James and will again for Logan. They are really handy when you're doing something like rumaging through your purse in a shop and need to let go of their hand. You can put your arm through the rein strap so you can have both hands free, but still keep hold of your child.
It's scary how quickly a toddler can wander off, James went through a stage of refusing to hold my hand and trying to run off!

i said no, as ive not got on with them.

i tried them on alana but she used to spin around in a cirlce until the reins are all tangled then throw herself on the floor :wall:

yes i am going to get some for Louie, i also used them for Georgia & Josh sometimes, i hate the wrist ones though, when we went on holiday 3 yrs ago this lady was pulling her son who was honestly about 4 around with one of these wrist ones on & she was pulling him like a dog, bless him :x

can't find any though, will have to go to Mothercare i suppose

I'll be using them with me lady.. But not the normal ones, im planning on gettin a backpack thingy which has a rein on the back of that...

Its reduced at asda to 7.98, there selling them in argos for 12.99!

Its like a little winnie backback, which goes on like a bag, but has the rains attatched to the back..

i HATE the wrist straps ones they look horrible....

I dont partiucarly like ANY reins, but id rather use them than not have a child to use them on...

bray has some and will not walk with out them now, altho he is perfectly good and will hold ur hand or pushchair he still wants his reins onn

Just had to find this thread again to show you what I got for Brody!
I love it! I'll feel a lot better if I know he can't run off into the road!

You can't really see very well on this pic but there is a strap that attaches to the top of the bag! It even has a little green rain hood with eyes attached to it :D

Here it is

Now I just need him to walk! :rotfl:

I have seen these and I think they are great. I have already bought Jake some reins so i'll see how he gets on with them. If he doesn't like them then I will probably try the backpack reins. Brody looks very cute with his on :D

Jools, thats what iv got for Leah, althou hers is a labybird and she loves it. She happily walks along and gets all pleased with herself cos she thinks shes doing it on her own.

I personally dont like the look of the normal reins but thats just my opinion. Plus her rusksack can hold a nappy, emergancy dummy n her drink lol

I voted no and its not that I wont use them its that Joe wont wear them. He refuses to move when they are on. The minute he realises they are on he sits down and wont move.
