I'd like to read some books on breastfeeding, sleeping routines and other things to do with baby once it arrives! Any recommendations? I've got "what to expect the first year" as I have used what to expect before you're expecting and also what to expect when you're expecting and liked then both.

But Id like to get some others.

Thanks ladies! Xx

I have got the Rough Guide to Babies and Toddlers. It's good, funny and no nonsense. X

Hello.. when my little girl was a newborn i got a book by Dr HArvey Karpcalled Baby Bliss. It was really interesting.. It is an american book (which normally i avoid) but it was very very helpful with getting my little girl to settle... His philospophy is all about there being FOUR trimesters to pregnancy.. the fourth being the first three months (0-3)... It explains about how it takes a little time for the baby to adapt from being in the womb to coming into the outside world.

It explains about swaddling and I can say from experience this was one of the best things i ever learnt to do from the book... He explains about all the babys reflexes(like they feel they are falling sometimes when on their back) and that to swaddle them to sleep helps them feel more secure and sleep for longer. Once i learnt how to swaddle Josie I could quickly swaddle her and she would be asleep within seconds! The book is really interesting anyway even if you don't decide to swaddle and really makes sense about how the baby adapts from being born. I think you can still get it on amazon but it might have changed its name from BabyBliss to "The happiest baby on the block"

Some other good reads are the "best friends Guide to..." Pregnancy, Motherhood & Toddlers (3 books) by Vicky Iovine. They are really funny, light-hearted books and cover all the things that you are too embarressed to ask others about (a bit like on this forum type things!).. i have got all 3 of the books and i read them over and over again. They are all in chapters like "the birth" "coming home from hospital" "whose body is this?!!" and with the motherhood and toddler books they cover "feeding" "fussy eaters" "tantrums" etc. They are just a really funny read.

Oh well that's my recomendations!!! I must look on amazon to buy that swaddling book - i lent it to a friend and never got it back!!!!

Thanks girls. I coudnt find the rough guide, I looked on amazon today! Someone gave me the best friends guide to pregnancy, it is very good, I didn't realise it was a series, maybe I'll get the otters! I think i will get the baby bliss book, looks good thanks again xx
