I thought we could suggest some good books for each other as there are so many out there!

By FAR the best story book I have ever seen is The Snail and the Whale

It's about a snail who hitches a ride around the world on the tail of a whale, and it all rhymes:

"This is a tale of a tiny snail and a great big, grey-blue humpback whale,
This is a rock, as black as soot, and this is a snail with an itchy foot"

Its GREAT!!

Brody also loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar which I think is a "must" for every baby :)

Great thread..but I have so many fav books, but my reception class particularly love 'The Gruffalo' and The Animal Jungle which has a fab cd in it which i play as i read/sing the book. They all sit swaying their arms to the boogie, woogie oogie...bless! Can't wait till my little boy is old enough for stories. :moon:

The Gruffalo is great too...have you read them the Snail and the Whale? It's by the same people, I have most of their books I love the illustrations :)

YAY do it!...I promise they will LOVE it, let me know!

yeh the jolly postman that was it..i loved that one!!

Elliott loves The Gruffalo too! I do a funny gruff voice for him and so Elliott picks the book up and says "uff uff uff" in a gruff voice when he wants me to read it, it's so cute!

My recommendation is Peace at Last by Jill Murphy. I've had it out from the library for about 4 months now and we're going to have to buy a copy! You can get it in boardbook form which is good as he likes to chew books at the moment. The story is about Mr Bear who can't sleep because Mrs Bear is snoring so he goes into Baby Bear's room and he's pretending to be an aeroplane loudly so he goes downstairs only to hear the ticking clock etc etc. Poor Mr Bear! We love it so much because every page has sound effects that you can make and the "Oh No, I can't stand this" refrain on each page and because it's got lots of simple things like going to bed, clocks, cats on walls etc so the vocab is all relevant. I must have read it every night for 4 months now and even I'm not tired of it!

I haven't got the whale one either, I'll have to put it on his Amazon wishlist!
