Have you always read to your little ones??
Or what age did you start?

I know some people read to their babies even when they are inside the belly

I havent read anything to Callum yet, just sang stupid songs and other "embarrasing" stuff (If someone saw you) to him...
But i bought this boss book yesterday from the Early Learning Cantre...
Theres so much good stuff in there... my mates had to nearly literally drag me out...
:rotfl:

I couldnt resist this though... its amazing... think i wanted it for myself just as much...

You put your hands in the back and make it talk
Asyou turn the page it comes with you....
Haha i love it!!
I SO want the whole set!!!!!

Anyone else have one similar??
What books do you read?
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I have always read to Clark, mainly before bedtime but also occasionally throughout the day. We have that many books I couldn't possibly list them, but his favorites are a first words one because Brad and I do all the animal noises which he finds really funny, a massive pop out book called "The Very Silly Shark" because he just loves the pictures and he also likes any touchy feely ones like the Usbourne "That's Not My......." range.

Edit - Forgot to say one of his main faves is the free one that came with the bag from his 8 month check which has babies faces in it and then a mirror at the end. he always kisses the mirror! I keep it in the changing bag so he can have it wherever we go!

i always read to thomas various books nothing like that one though
xx

i have read to Hannah since she was born and she loves books she has about 100 and is always bringing them for us to read to her, you wouldnt belive the amount of children that start school and dont know which way round a book goes and how to turna page you would be amazed

luke loves book from day 1 really. he loves the meg and mog series, they are so colourful. he loved looking at them as a baby and still loves a cuddle on the sofa now with a good story, doesn't sit for as long now. concentration span quite short!! :bored:

I read to Galen. We also have some baby books (from 9 months upwards) that he loves looking at. He gets so excited seeing the pics, his legs and arms start flapping and his eyes get all buggy trying to take things in. Only simply pictures but he loves them. I read the words also and talk about the pics too.

i have some soft books i read to evie-she loves them. atm she is mastering turning the page x

Lucy used to love looking at photographs of relatives so made her a little book and would sit with her and instead of reading a story I'd talk to her about who was in the picture "that's your granny, she's my mummy, she works in the hospital to help people get better when they're poorly" etc.

As she got got older recognised people she used to love saying their name and talking about them!

I've read to Oliver since he was a newborn.

When he was still weeny he'd just have a bit of quiet time, looking at the pictures whilst I read.

Now however it's a mini fight between us, me trying to see what the words on the page are to read to him, and him trying to turn pages or stuff the whole thing in his mouth. Great fun :rotfl:  :wall:

Oliver even has his own library card already & we go and change his books over every few weeks.

My OH reads a 'Little Miss' book to Ella every night (We got the whole set free from the paper :D ). She looks at him in awe the whole way through, it's lovely to watch. I was in Waterstones earlier looking at all the kiddies books, there are loads I want to get for her when she's a bit bigger. Also, I put a story CD on for her for her naps during the day, like Paddington Bear, Peter Rabbit and James and the Giant Peach.

I would read to lil miss but she is currently going through this phase of throwing a paddy unless she can actually eat the book...so we usually get past page one and she grabs it off me and pops it in her mouth  I try every night though...I'm persistent if anything.

Tia however gets read to every night a chapter of a book...so far we've read....

All of the Harry Potter books...
All the books of His Dark Materials (The Golden Compass)
All the chronicles of Narnia.
Charlotts Web
And we are currently reading a series of Unfortunate events...

I've read her from day one...and she has always loved it...

I read to Connie before bedtime, usually classics such as "Miffy in the Tent"... :rotfl:

She loves it and stares at me while I read. Then she goes to sleep afterwards!

I first started reading to Maia when she was about 3 weeks old.

We have a good few books, a lot of which I have picked up in charity shops and usually a bargain price of 25-50p each most of them look brand new.

She loves to look at big colourful pictures and prefers stories that rhyme. When I stop reading she'll make cooing or gurgling noises as if shes finishing off the story :)

We love books in our house! DD has literally hundreds and is also a member of the local library.

Some of our favourites are:-

Can't You Sleep Little Bear? (and all the Little Bear series - we have a box set we got cheap somewhere)
Peace at Last
Owl Babies
Baby Catalogue
The Smartest Giant in Town and any other Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler books

We also love the Usbourne 'That's My Fairy/Dolly/Snowman' etc

It helps that OH is an early years teacher so knows the best books!

I've picked up loads of books in charity shops in as new condition.

Valentine Xxx

We've read from word go...........it's suppose to encourage talking. We read Mr. men books, Dan loves them!

I LOVED Mr Men books when i was a kid!!

:rotfl: at all the parents of children who want to eat the books....

Guess i have all that to come

haha! i couldnt of said that better myself. kyran wont look at a book for more than 2secs unless he can hold it himself or try and eat it. so far i have 2 material books with different textured materials and things to touch on each page, um from whsmiths i think? he does feel the things but usually within seconds hes just tries to eat it

We always have books around the house. Seren is a right bookworm, everymonth we go to a bookshop and buy a new book (one for mummy and one for Seren). We especially love the rhyming ones. Favourites include:
snail and the whale
room on the broom
slinky malinki (love this series)
pants
and anyhting by Dr Suess (we are obsessed with Dr Suess in this house)

we also love the stories such as Hungry Caterpillar, The mole who knew it was none of his business (or the poo book as Seren calls it). When I was a little girlmy favourite book was "Hugo and Oddsock" which is out of print now but my MIL managed to track one down for me, and I love reading it to Seren. Seren has calm down boris (the book in the OP), and she will sit in bed reading it (she has mesmorised the words lol). We are offto the bookshop tomorrow, and Cally gets to choose a new book this time too :) She has read all her fabric ones (well ate all her fabric ones)
