H all, i know theres been lots of threads on this subject but now i'm at the stage where i'm curious (sorry moderators!!)
My friend said she took them from 39 weeks as she didnt want her planned c-section but said really you need to take them from about 36 weeks. She has some capsules to give me if i want them. But in the books it advises against them as they can bring on false contractions? But my friend said if you take them now it starts softening the cervix ready for the second stage of labour. So i don't know what to do, i don't want to harm the baby or myself!! Am i best just leaving alone and being patient? :?

My sis-in-law drank these with all 3 of her pregnancys and she is sending me some over, she said not to use them until last 2-3 weeks. she had quite easyish labours with last 2 and says that the raspberry tea helped although it is disgusting to drink and she found it better to let it go cold!

Im going to use them this time round.. and ill let u know the difference in labour after as i didnt use it with Jaycee..although every labour is different.

Thanks ladies, i think i'll give them a try then :D

I took them and had a quick 2nd stage. Dont know if it was them but i guess you'd never know

claire i started taking the solid tablets at 34 weeks (even though my midwife said not to take them until 38 weeks!). my labour was only 6 hours with a 10min second stage.
i started taking only 2 a day then increased them by 2 every week. they never gave me any false contractions and i never got any stronger braxton hicks until about 39 weeks but thats normal anyway, also i was 5 days overdue so it didnt induce labour.
I suggest just taking them and see how you feel, if you feel like they are causing strong BH and its worrying you then stop taking them.Other than that you should be fine.
hope that helps :D

My bosses wife is Norwegian and was never advised about raspberry leaf tea in any respect and so she drank it throughout both her pregnancies.

She had 2 easy labours, although you never know what the cause is!

I read somewhere not to take it before 32 weeks. But I decided to start at 30 weeks. I had 2 cups a day between 30-32 weeks and now I'm having 4 cups a day.

So far so good though!

Hi! On the box i bought it says they are a benefit after 35 weeks and not to take before then! I started drinking 3 cups of the tea a day from 37 weeks, five days later I was in labour. My waters went at 7 in the morning and by the time I got to the hospital half hour later I was 5-6 cm dilated! I thought the pains were trapped wind!
So for me it definately seemed to soften the cervix but I have heard for some people it had no effect whatsoever! I guess it's worth a try though! :D

Wow thank you, some interesting facts there, i don't know when i will see my friend so i have got some of the drinks coming my way, how many cups do you recommend?? I will be 37 weeks by the time they arrive :D
