Well, what a day! We had people come to view our house today for a possible swap (not happening now) but that is a different story! Anyway, when they left, after about an hour after they had gone, our poor Layla came out in a really random rash all over her face and was really struggling to breathe :shock::shock::shock::shock:

Anyway, to cut a long story short, we managed to calm her down and get her "breathing" properly again and then to have her feed etc, but whilst we were doing all this we were getting her to the docs aswell... (doc couldn't get to us we had to go to them).

Anyway, it would appear that she had an allergic reaction to "SOMETHING" although as to what, we have no idea. Nor does the doc. Everything that has happened today is the same as normal - other than those people so we are thinking it may have been their clothing or a perfume?

Anyone else experienced similar?

She is now fine, rash all gone and pretty much back to normal thankfully but oh my god what a scare :-( xx

maybe they have pets or somehing?? ive never experienced anything like this xx

nah, pets not a problem hun as we have a dog and the inlaws have 4 cats lol. They have a little scottie and she was fine at theirs on Sat.... just really random. Doc gave us some piriton for her but said not to use it more than twice a day as she is under 1. Other than that, I guess its a waiting game and the old more "watchful eye" to make sure she is ok... xxx

How strange, hope she is ok. When my brother was little we went to a petting zoo and he was feeding the goats and the same thing happened to him, his face was really swollen. For ages we thought he was allergic to goats until my mum tried him with nuts when he was older. Turns out he was allergic to the nuts he was giving to the goats, he hadn't eaten them the first time, just touched them. Has she touched anything new? X

Oh wow, it amazing that just the touch of something like nuts can affect us in that way.

As for Layla, she hadn't done anything different today compared to any other day... apart from having a cuddle or two with the visitors who came to see the house which is why I am going down the clothing (due to detergent used) or a perfume route with this one.

She is however absolutely fine now. The rash has completely gone and she is in bed fast asleep (more so because of the darn piriton :-() It's me now that is the nervous wreck checking on her every 15 mins!

Fingers crossed though, she will be ok now. I really don't want to go through that again. xxx

i know someone who has a severe reaction to peanuts she cant be in the same room as u if ur eatin any cause of the smell its weird how just the smell can make her go into alergic reaction x

My OH had a random reaction to a floor cushion the other day, his face swelled and he came out in a rash too. It was a bob the builder floor cushion for LO but he never got the chance to sit on it before I threw it out lol, I couldn't risk him having the same reaction! Sounds like it probably was something on the visitors, it's just a shame you're not able to pinpoint it so you can avoid it in the future! Unless you're still in touch with them? Mightbe worth asking about perfume / aftershave / washing detergent?

Def sounds like your visitors. Perfume/ washing stuff!
It's scary when they get rashes! Lacey had an awful one all over her afew years ago, found out she'd rolled on an ants nest in mums garden! x.

:-( it is so annoying not being able to pinpoint it. Sorry to hear of all your experiences too. Its mental how the tiniest thing can set it off. She is however fine this morning so far so fingers crossed :)

As for the visitors, we won't be in touch with them again :-( We are not nasty people but my god were they the biggest "snobs" on the planet! xx

Def annoying nt knowing what it is! I don't know if this helps, but when my daughter was about 2, I was in a cafe with her and my friend. I let her have sausages and chips an some dip. All foods she's eaten before, not regularly, bit def had them. I was talkin to my friend, glanced at my daughter, and she was breathing a bit oddly and had big red blotches all over her face. About 10 mins later, she was fine. Never done it again, have no idea what it was. As far as I am aware, she has no allergies, but something set her off then? Xx

ooohhh how strange... sounds very similar except that Layla was unable to get a breath for 3-5 secs.... very weird how things can set them off. she is still fine now though... back to the teething again bless her xxx

Aw bless her. Maybe mention it to your gp or hv next time u see them (says me who forgot about it lol). They might want to test her to check for allergies or something? X

yeah we rushed her up there. she had piriton overnight but not needed anymore. think i'll be asking everyone if they use non-bio washing powder in future ;-) they might think i'm crazy but i'm not going through that again... xx

Lol who cares if they think ur crazy! I don't know how many times I've appeared like a complete nut job to other people because of the kids! X
