Lanna got a bit of a rash when we were travelling, but shes had it about a week now and its just getting worse :( Ive been rinsing her off when i change her, using sudecrem, and lettin her go around without a nappy on every day for a bit, but its persistant!

Ideas?

Have you got an aloe plant? Apparently thats very good with nappy rash. Is she teething a bit? Everytime Paige has a tooth trying to come out she has horrible nappy rash where it just leaves big sores and I feel so bad for her. I just change her every hour or so and let her go free and eventually (it can take a while) it will clear up.

Just keep persisting. Are you using baby wipes? Try using cotton wool and warm water. A baby at nursery had nappy rash that was just horribly sore and they couldnt shift it but as soon as they stopped using baby wipes it was fine! (she'd previously used baby wipes and it was fine)

I havent got aloe, i might see if i can buy some aloe gel though! And yeah im using wipes, didnt think about that!! Will try just cotton balls and water, thanks!

Bump!

Its getting worse :( Even with just using water n cotton balls

The best one that works for Oz is bepathem (sp?), all the other creams did nothing for him. And usually it clears within 24 hours for him. He gets it quite regular now he does solid poos, the poo irritates his skins even though he's changed straight away!

Bepathan is the only one that worked for Lacey too.
I don't know what else to suggest except nappy free time but your already doing that!

I agree with maria and laceymum, Its te best cream i ever used as i got it from the doc when my LO had nappie rash that was just agree all the time. It cleared up within a matter of days, mayb 2! She is 3 now so no nappy rash but i still have some in the house as it was good for chicken pox and insect bites :) On a hot day when she sweats sometimes she gets red it is also great for that to :)

Thanks girls! will have a look for some bepanthen out here!

I tried bepanthen but it never worked. I sent an e-mail to mama nature and told them I had tried every cream under the sun for my six month old baby daughter's nappy rash. They told me that in her case I should avoid water based creams as this makes nappy rash worse as fungal infections can thrive on the moisture in the cream. They recommended their tiny troubles range of oils and their healing salve which don't contain water. Since using the healing salve we have never looked back and I wrote to them to thank them for their advice. I'm glad bepanthen has helped some of you but I prefer to use natural products as I don't want to put chemicals on my baby's skin. I think this product is marvellous - a bit pricey but marvellous all the same.

I tried all those creams when Jacob was bad and getting worse and those creams just made it 10 times worse, I even ended up in the hospital sent my my GP because nothing was working, it was a nightmare, I was given a paste called Orabase and it's amazing!!! it was the only thing that helped, you just wash their bum with warm water make sure it's dry and then just paste it on and it's truly brilliant!

I ended up getting steriod cream from the gp for that one, it cleared it up in a couple days!

but now its back :(

you can also try vaseline. it creates a protective coat so the skin dosent get wet. try it a couple of days and see how it goes

Best cream I found for nappy rash is Metanium - hospital recommended it and it worked for Grace in a couple of days. Its very thick like a kind of paste and you only need a little. Its yellow in colour and can stain clothes but it is fab. You can actually buy it from most supermarkets and chemists here x

This is it: http://www.metanium.co.uk/about-metanium.aspx - its Lanolin free, some babies can be sensitive to Lanolin and most creams have it in but this one doesn't xxx

thanks for that, somethin without lanolin would be good cause im useing cloth!

My lo had bad nappy rash due to having strong antibiotics and i was told by a nurse at local hospital to put egg white on his bum, yes egg whites.

Let it dry before putting a nappy back on, dont know how or why it works but it did. I had tried everything before then.

I mentioned it to ladies in work and alot of the ladies who's children are adults now themselves all said thats what they put on their babys bum.
