Hey everyone,

I had my daughter on Sunday, amazing birth but slight trauma after that placenta still adhered to uterus and required surgery. I lost a lot of blood, and had to have a general anistethic.
Anyway, I just wanted to check whether this sounds right to you lovely ladies. LO pretty much fed continuously at night since she was born till last night, with some continuous feedings in the day, until now. She's now feeding nearly on the hour for between 10-20 mins then going to sleep, does this sound ok? I'm hoping my nips have been through the worst and are now recovering a bit! We've had wee, and poo, although no poo yesterday.

Thanks for your help.

Totally normal hun she is working hard to bring your milk in. Expect a few more days of constant feeding. Your milk should come in around day 3 - 5 you will literally wake up with rocks on your chest one day.

Its hard work i am only 18 days in so far and won't lie it has been hard but i am sticking with it. Don't expect any kind of pattern or routine just feed when she wants. And on the days where she is on the boob all day don't stress just set up camp in the bedroom or sofa with the tv or laptop.

Get some lansinoh cream for your nips hun and lastly congratulations on your baby girl.

I agree with everything Vicky said only I'm day 22 and refusing to give in!

hey, everything vicky said sounds right to me, im 3 weeks in, sore nipples have gone ( used plenty of cream and fresh breast pads and "airing out") and although my supply hasnt totally evened out yet, it is more then enough for william.

I did find in the early days the feeding was really regular and all over the place but in the last few days we are starting to get a good 2/3 hour break between feeds and during the night its like 4/5 hours. we have started introducing a dummy to settle him if he is grouchy in between feeds as i think i was mistaking every cry for a feeding cry and he was almost getting into a habbit of snacking all day rather then having a good feed and then a sleep. he now eats for a good 20 minutes and sleeps for a couple of hours but this is literally only the last couple of days, and just before he had a growth spurt again and that was like an all day cluster feed and i was confined to sofa.

Hey, thanks for your advice ladies, had now been put on a feeding plan as lost too much weight, poop not what it should be and not enough wee wee! MW confirmed latch was good though, at least that's one thing positive!
Xxx

Yeah, sadly they think the level of blood loss as reduced the amount of milk coming in and it's speed, so baby needs a bit of extra and I need some rest! After I wrote this original post she then feed continuously for 6 hours. She's been like that for a while and I think the shorter feeds were her getting too tiered to carry on and giving up! I will be carrying on though. I'm still boarderline for a blood transfusion, so still considering whether this will help
Xx

I was very near to having a blood transfusion too. I ended up back in hospital 3 hours after being discharged! On high strength iron for 6 weeks! It hasn't effected my milk tho. Hopefully yours will sort itself out soon x
