Firstly, is anyone going and is it any good?

And secondly, do you know if you are allowed time off work - like you would be for antenatal? Most of my local classes are during my working hours and I am seriously thinking about going but would need time off. Any ideas??

 My sister is going for aquanatal twice a week and loves it. She says that it helps for her back pain. She has been signed off from the beginning of her pregnancy so don't really know if you could have paid time off.. I guess best to ask your midwife as you would probably need her written recommendation for HR. Hope this helps...

you can get paid off time for any antenatal activity your mw recommends so just get a letter from her

I go to aquanatal on Wednesday mornings and really enjoy it. It is at 10.30 for an hour and because I live an hour away from work, I don't get into work until 1 (but I don't take a lunch break so then work until 6). Work were funny about it (although they are being pretty poor generally at the moment so stuff them!) but my midwife and the commuity midwives that run it said work were legally obliged to give me paid time off as it is a recommended part of my antenatal care. :cheer: They were more than happy to write work a letter to this effect.

It's really nice seeing lots of women who I can talk and moan to about the same things every week too. The midwives who run aquanatal insist on you staying for a cup of tea and biscuit afterwards to recover a bit and gives everyone an opportunity to chat and ask them questions etc. And half a day off in the middle of the week is pretty nice too considering how depressing it is being there at the moment.
