hey all, im not sure if this is the right place to post this but my best friend has been having all the signs of pregnancy lately and me, my OH, her & her OH were down her flat last night and she took a test, straight away a faint pink line came up, the 4 of us saw it plain. then it faded after a while but was still visable. she took another test and a clear blue test today and both came back negative. has anyone had this before?? they have been TTC for about 5 months, could this be her

From what I hear false positives are not very common, and since she drank a lot to take the second test it probably didn't have enough hcg in the urine to show on the test. I had a faint positive a couple of days ago, and have had negative since, but I'm still hopeful. What you described about your friend sounds even more promising than my situation! I suggest she waits a day or two (or more if she can :P) and then take a new test!

Some people here have also said they get different results different times of the day (some stronger positives in the evening, others in the morning etc)

Also, different brands have different sensitivities, even same tests from the same pack can be slightly different, so it could be that the other tests haven't ben as sensitive + your friend might have had a lower concentration of hcg for natural reasons.

:dust: for her! Let us know how it goes :)

Oh, and I bought some prenatal vitamins today that I'll start taking, just in case. Might as well treat my body as if I'm pregnant, it won't do any harm, maybe even help whatever might be there stick around for the first few weeks.

When I was in hospital with my mc the nurse said that lots of people get false positives and they see it all the time. However, she should try again with first morning urine and see what happens :-)
