I went on the pill just over a week ago, last time I was on it was a few years ago and I had no problems.

Yesterday I was at home with Ryan and all of a sudden my eyes went really weird, I couldn't focus on anything and it was like everything was flashing. Then I got pins and needles in my hands and I thought I was gonna collapse or something

Anyway, I looked it up on NHS and found out it was that aura thing you get before a migraine, so I was expecting a major headache to kick in. I took 2 painkillers and then it went away, no headache or anything, but lying in bed last night I got pins and needles all over my body.

I've never had anyting like this in my life. Could it be to do with the pill? I'm getting a bit worried now, I've got an appointment with the GP but not til Thursday.

Anyone else had this? :?

Yeah I got that so they doctor changed me to the mini pill (femulin)

It is very common to get migranes while on the pill and since I am prone to them anyway... it wasnt worth the risk.

The mini pill works the same, excpet you HAVE to take it the same time each day, you dont get that 12hr(or whatever it is!) window incase you forget

Thanks hun

I just thought it was weird how I got the 'aura' without the actual headache :?

Anyway, I rang the GP and I've gotta go down at 5pm to see her :)

I went to see the doctor earlier and explained to her exactly what was wrong and whether or not I should continue taking the pill.

She said it's nothing to worry about and that was it

Now I'm getting pins and needles all down my right side and I just know something isn't right.

Why the f**k is my doctor so useless :wall:

You should stop taking them straight away, you can get serious circulatory problems from taking the pill, and whilst they are very rare complications they can be life-threatening so better safe than sorry

Really?

I had pins and needles all over my body yesterday, started at 2pm and carried on all day. Even my tongue felt tingly so I rang NHS Direct hoping they would give me some advice but all the Nurse did was read me some information from a bloody screen in front of her saying that she couldn't really find any info on it and the best thing to do was see my GP :wall:

I have an appointment tomorrow so I'll see what they say. I've got pins and needles again today, I dunno what's going on  :?

Yeah I was on the same brand a few years ago and I never had anything like this :?

I'm seeing my proper GP tomorrow, he's usually really good so I'll wait and see what he says :)

I stopped taking my pill for the same reason... I kept seeing flashing lights, every now and then and like a twinkle as well. It didnt happen all the time, now and then but it was enough to scare me!!! My nurse advised me to stop taking it... not long after we decided to start TTC. I was on a pill I had been on for a while without any problems until the that.... def keep on at yr GP and if your really not happy with, its yr body you know what feels normal to you, stop taking it!

xx

When I went docs last week to go on the pill they wouldn't let me go on the combined pill because I suffer from migraines during pregnancy and when I was on it before. Apparently it puts you at higher risk of having a stroke :(

I've been put on the mini pill which I'm not impressed about. I wanted to go on Dianette so I could sort my skin out.

I saw my GP and he said after I've finished this pack (I've got about 4 days left) stop taking it and see if the pins and needles stop.

I read about Dianette, it sounds good cos I get spots quite often. I might ask if I can try that :)
