Question about rent.

Hello

I'm so confused by how the benefit systems works.

I currently work full time, but I will be taking maternity leave.

My question is, I plan to rent somewhere from April which I will be paying on my own, if i do not go back to work after the birth will the council help me to pay my rent?

Yes. I work part time and my oh is a stay at home dad and we get part of our rent paid for us by the council.

Ring the housing benefit department in your council and ask them to make a calculation to find out your entitlement
