Ok, so in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy I got some pretty bad swelling in my feet and ankles. the midwives told me that it should be gone about a week after delivery. I'm now 5 days post delivery and the swelling is getting worse.

The swelling has moved up my legs and now right up as far as my knees is rock solid. They're also really tender, to touch and move. I keep putting my feet up and doing the stretches the midwife told me to do but it's not making any difference, they just keep getting worse!

I'm also getting a lot of bad headaches that started 2/3 days ago and today I've had a persistent stabbing pain in the right side of my lower abdomen.

I'm not sure if these things are anything to be concerned about :/ Any advice?xx

Didn't want to read and run hunni but I would have a word with your mw or hv if you are concerned just to be on the safe side, as for your swelling could it be water retention? It was the first thing that came to my mind.

Sorry I'm not much help :)

I was more swollen after giving birth, than whilst pregnant- it took a good two weeks for me to be able to wear some of my shoes, and I only got my engagement and wedding rings back on two weeks ago, and Molly is eight weeks tomorrow. It takes time, but you will get there.

I also had a lot of headaches to begin with- I am on high dose iron following a post partum haemorrhage, and had a spinal as prep for a c-section, and was told these could have contributed. :)

I didn't have a pph this time or a spinal. Midwife is coming out soon though so think I'll mention it. Never hurts to check :) xx
