What do you do if you're out visiting and had to change a pretty nasty cloth nappy? I know you flush the solids and get rid of the liner, but surely the cloth you keep will still smell? I'vebeen thinking about keeping a pack of disposables for visits, but that kind of defeats the point of having the cloth ones

A sealed bag works just fine for dirty nappies. I used to look after quite a few children who wore them and it was never really a problem.

i have a water proof draw string bag, and put a cloth wipe with a few drops of lavender oil on in the bag to hide any smells

That's brill, thanks

Just been looking at extra liners etc (coz none of our local super markets sell them, grr) and one of the top up sets with sanitiser etc has a FREE wet nappy bag included! Guess I'll be buying that then

I haven't had anything particularly horrendous yet (not like a leaky type poo) and because Finn is breastfed his poo is too runny for the liners so we wont use them till he's on solids and his poo is a bit more solid.

I would highly reccomend cloth nappies - we use bamboo ones like Bamboozles but from a company called Lollipop - I think they're a few £ cheaper but exactly the same.

We haven't used a single disposible nappy yet and haven't had any trouble although when we go to France in the summer, I will be using disposibles because I don't fancy hunting for a laundrette to wash nappies.

Just you wait! DD did 6 solid poos today (she used to poo once a week!) and they were like dog turds! I did give her brussel sprouts yesterday though! I had to air the house, she was so farty and pooey!

Anyway - now DD does solid poos, I just scoop up the poo with a wipe in my hand so none touches me and flush the whole lot down the loo together with the wipes I have used (I use degradable wipes by Natures Babies) to wipe her with - there's always a loo or a bin nearby in a cafe/at a friend's house etc. I have always used fleece liners to make it dryer next to her skin. I did start using disposable liners over the fleece liners when she started doing solid poos, but they gave her nappy rash (she'd never had this before).

After disposing of the poo however necessary, I then carry the slightly soiled nappy home in a specially designed bag like this one - http://www.minkinappies.co.uk/product_i ... e6351b1730. When she did mustardy liquidy breastfed poos, I just bundled it all up (it kind of dries in) and took the whole lot home to be washed.

Good luck with using cloth nappies - any questions, please ask - there's loads of cloth nappy users on here. You'll also find your own ways of doing things with everything - trial and error, its part of the fun!

He already does quite rancid trumps without the sprouts so god knows what he's going to be like on solids :rotfl:

personally i havent bothered with flushable/disposable wipes.. they kinda defeat the object for me.. i use cloth wipes, they all go in the same washload, and i dont have any waste. also newborn/bf poop is really quite runny.. the liners r pretty useless unless they are fleece at keeping the poo off the nappy and even then most of it goes on the nappy anyways.

i use a cheap beauy bag from wilkinsons.. the wee doesnt come out of the nappy or bag.. and its not completly sealed but like paradysso i put a few drops of essential oil in the nappy bag and it hides any niffs..

i also make my own cloth wipe solution to wet the wipes. i have reciepes on my web site it anyone wants to have a look.. its so easy to do and use and costs next to nothing.. i love it and it smells great.

http://www.store2go.net/shop/lottiesbot ... on_page/1/ give it a go anyone who is using cloth wipes, i tend to sue the chamomile solution as it smells lush and is kind to the skin. you can mix your own to.:)
