Query about MC and TTC

Hi Everyone

Just had a query that i was hoping someone might be able to help me on.

I've been reading different posts/stories on this forum and read some of the awful stories about MC's and the bleeding aftermath which got me thinking....

When i was around 18 -19 yrs i had a period that lasted about 8-9 weeks (or what i thought was a period - i know i was ignorant about stuff like this then ) on about the 8th week i went to the doctors and he didn't really have any answers he gave me a pregnancy test which was negative and just sent me on my way and it stopped a week later so i never thought anymore about it. But now i'm wondering if it was a MC?

What do you all think? Because the test was negative do you think that means it was something else or just that there was no hormone level left at week 8 of bleeding? Do you know of any other reason why i would of bled for so long other than a MC? Has anyone else had this?

The only reason im asking now is that i went to have my IUD removed the other day and i explained we are planning on TTC in July and the doctor asked if i had ever conveived before and i said no, but if it was a MC for medical reasons should i be saying maybe or yes when people ask (or does it not matter either way?)

Also could anyone explain to me what clomid is and what dpo stands for sorry to be such a numpty but i'm struggling to follow a few posts because i'm not entirely sure what they are?

Dont know what clomid is but dpo is Days past ovulation

How you feeling? Any better than earlier? Are you still going to test again tomorrow? Thinking of you and praying that everything remains ok for you I'm sure it will be and we'll all be sending you off over to 1st Trimester were you deserve to be

Clomid is a drug they give you to make you ovulate. It tricks the body into thinking that progesterone is being produced, which makes you ovulate. I'm on it . And it can make more than 1 follicle mature and release an egg, so the chance of conceiving twins or more is significantly higher

Ah i see Thanks for explaining. So why are people prescribed this drug, is it because they arn't ovulating or aren't ovulating regularly?

I was given it cos I wasn't ovulating at all. But I think they prescribe it to regulate ovulation too. Trouble is they only let you have 6 months on it , I'm just starting my 3rd cycle on it.

The reason you had a long period could of been down to hormones..I had irregular periods and bleeding for many years, at times was given progesterone to stop the bleeding.

I wouldn't start worrying yet before you have even tried to concieve, just see what happens

Oh right thats interesting i was asking becuase my cycles can be everything from 37 days to 58 days so regulating my ovulation would be fabby! Good luck with you 3rd cycle
