hi,

just wondered what meat or anyother foods i should avoid givin to little one? ive been weaning for nrly 2 and half months now and its going great, i am using jars at the min to get her used to different taste n textures but hvae started to blend fruit and freeze it. so i am in need of organising me meats ready to give her. she seems to love certain meats (she hates chicken!!!!) but she also loves her veg.

oh, also i can give her strawberry purreed up can i??

oohhh, and is it now safe for her to have gluten and egg containing products, such as egg custard and pasta?? i really want to try her on pasta as i love it!! i know this dosent mean she will but at least ill know. (i have pasta bolenase jars - sorry for spelling!!!!)

sorry for stupid questions but i dont want to upset her tummy  xx

Not sure how old your LO is but my DS is 9 months old.
He eats anything I put in front of him, he'll eat chicken, fish, pork, ham, lamb, beef etc. We started with a few jars etc to get him used to solid foods and then a few more when it came to moving up to stage 2 type of food (more mashed than smooth) but now he eats anything we have just popped in the blender slightly to mash it up a bit. And in answer to the strawberries etc, my LO's had them and loves them, he's also had things like scrambed eggs, spaghetti carbonara or bolognaise etc so I think you'll be fine introducing these if your LO is ready for them. The only thing I know to avoid is honey untill 12 months but really now LO eats anything without problems. Oh and egg custard is fine, they do make that specifically for 4 months plus if you look at the baby food varieties.

thanks sorry i forgot to put how old she is lol, shes nearly 6 months old!!!

i was also going to make some custard fr her the other day and then realised theres cows milk in it, but wasnt sure about the insant custard that you can make with boiled water??

I've made things that contain cows milk: custard, scrambled egg, ready break cereal etc and LO's eaten it all. It's not that they 'cant' have cows milk just that it doesn't provide for them what they need in regards heaps and heaps of iron and vitamins....baby milk includes that for them. So having milk in cereal or deserts etc is fine as she'll get the vitamins/iron not only from her foods but from the ample amounts in her baby milk.

6 months my LO was eating pretty much everything (I was just way more careful about finger foods and snacks, i.e. I'd not have given him raisins at 6 months but he's had them now at 9 months etc) but what he was eating was still pretty smooth, no lumps. Tiny lumps were introduced around 7 months and now at 9 months it's just mashed slightly and he'll sort out the lumps and what not himself!!

no, she cant have gluten! ur sig says she was born in december, so she's not 6 months old yet! i didnt give any meat until after 6 months (but i didnt really wean until 6 months- i tried solids but not a real weaning effort before then) i tried white meat first i thought red meat is really hard to digest (i believe it takes an adult a whole week to pass from one end to the bottom?!) so even now i only occasionally give her any red meat and in small amounts.
i dont kno a lot about meat tho as i dont eat it myself!
