I developed a very itchy rash on my belly in the stretchmarks when I was about 34 wks pregnant. I didn.t think much of it as I put it down to the skin stretching and the heat,a nd the midwife didn't seem concerned either.

Since I gave birth last Sunday however the rash has spread. It now covers my entire abdomen, my feet, my sides, my wrists, and I have itchy palms and soles of my feet. The doctors are closed and I have no more midwife visits planned in, and no idea when the health visitor is coming.

Am I still able to call the Labour Ward to seek advice from the midwives there, or would I be better calling NHS direct. I feel a bit like I'm in limbo as havent seen midwife since wed and she hasnt made an appointment to see me. The itching is literally driving me insane! :wall2:

It sounds alot like PUPPP from our own research, but who knows! :(

Hey,
How is the rash now, did you contact anyone?? I would say make an appointment with your GP chickxxxxx

I have seen two gp's - each said something different! The first said he thought it could be my liver struggling with the hormone overload and wanted me to get blood tests with my Own gp, my own gp said he thought it was an allergy and refused bloods n gave me calamine lotion. It's still not going and it keeps me awake at night, particularly the soles of my feet itching! Both did agree that it wasn't harmful for baby so at least that's something! Thanks x

bloody doctors! hope it gets better soon hun, maybe speak to a health visitor as they are usually a lot better regarding birth/baby related things. When I needed advice I just rang the health centre where the health visitors were based and someone called me back the following day.

Thanks Hun, if it's still as bad when I see the health visitor I will speak to then about it, no point going back to gp as he was a but clueless! Xx

That's crap dear, yes def spk with your health visitor then. I hope you get it sorted chickxxx
