Pump to prep breast for feed ?

Im new to this and would appreciate some tips...

The MW keeps telling me to hand express to 'prep' the breast before feeding - but for some reason i struggle doing it myself. I do see how easy it is when she is there but struggle myself to 'draw' any. Plus it makes me a bit squeamish squeezing my own boob (maybe thats just me).

She said hand express a bit will draw baby in easier, shape the nipple and generally prep for feed. Would a pump do the same ? Just to prep i mean...

I used to use a pump to do that. Also breast shells worn for a bit before a feed help. It won't be for long, just until you both get used to it xxx
