FTM syndrome here....

My back pain is off the scale today! I know it can be a sign of premature labour mixed with other symptoms , I'm getting disrupted sleep all night and a lot of pressure down there. I know my little miss's head is engaged (well it was 2/5ths on Monday at midwife app)

Just wondered if anyone could help me out with some advice or if you've had back pain like this before?

I was crying before it hurt so much x x x

aww sorry your little one is giving you so much pain. If your concerned contact your midwife and just get it checked out. Better to be safe.

Michelle x

I don't want to seem daft tho and like I'm over worrying, it could just be the fact I'm so petite and she's had a growth spurt. I'm only 31+5 so I know they grow a lot now. I'll get an early night and see if it eases at all. Thanks Michelle xxxx

A nice relaxing bath some paracetamol and an early night should do you the world of good, if it continues though just get it checked out. Your not being daft or wasting anyone's time that's what they are there for.

Bunny - sorry you are suffering! This helps you in no way but I am going through similar right now!! At about 7:45 I got a period type pain that was in my lower bump/lower back and even a bit in my thighs, dull and then gradually building. Not excruciating but definitely not comfortable and not anything I've experienced before. It eased so I started cooking dinner then I got another one about 20 minutes later  I'm keeping calm / I've got my feet up, eaten and drunk a bottle of water - but if I keep getting them over the next hour or so I think I might give triage a ring.
Don't feel silly - just keep calm and relaxed so you can assess with a level head if it's getting better or worse. Hopefully it's just braxton hicks for us both?? Or babies engaging etc. Xxx

I had a mega cleaning spree after a busy day working today and the tightening i felt were immense! Had to stop and sit down, but everytime I get back up they start again. Said to hubby if I hadn't experienced labour before I would be worrying now. It's so hard as a ftm as you have no idea what it actually feels like.

Totally agree with the other advise, paracetamol, bath, bed. If paracetamol touches the pain it's nothing to worry about. Last few months of preg are full of pains, some mild and some downright painful. Means baby is growing just the way she should xx

Aww bunny feel your pain, my bubs i all on my right side so my ribs are in agony. Feel like i can barely turn her butt is right under my ribs to painful i was gasping at the midwife when she had a feel. Taken some pain killer and got a warm hot water bottle on my side and its not as bad xx

Summer you've put in to words exactly what my pains have been like!!! Starting just noticing them, they were there but excruciating whereas I've been in tears since. Leg pain too like you said! I'm now in bed waiting for OH to get home from football, hoping they ease so I can sleep.

Yeah Mary Poppins that's what I worry about because I've never felt labour before every little pain / ache or different feeling at this stage I just worry I'm about to pop, will see how I feel after a good (hopefully) sleep.

Thanks Doll Eyes I've been rooting for a hot water bottle and can't find one, shall invest in one tomorrow aha xxxx

Bunny I have this. I went and got checked out at MAU on Sunday night to be safe and put my mind at rest. Period cramps at bottom of bump, dull back ache, running to loo for no. 2, loads of pressure in my bits and paracetamol didn't help. Went over they gave me full mot, checked cervix, done swabs, put me on monitor and all was fine. They sent me home and it wasn't until kumber on here said that Brixton hicks can sometimes feel like period pains that I got an explanation.

However, go and get checked as it will stop you from worrying. Honestly I didn't feel like I was wasting time and it really is better to be safe than sorry x

How are you doing hun? I think I'm ok now - haven't moved off sofa but haven't had a crampy pain in over an hour now ... I guess our bodies are pretty good at telling us when we need to rest!! Hope you're ok ... Xxx

Thanks Bubbles, I'll call my midwife if they get worse again today.

Summer I'm okay still aching and got dull period like pains. Going to get myself off to work and hope it takes my mind off them and they ease. If not I'll come home and call my midwife xxxxx

Are you keeping yourself hydrated hun? I find pain is always worse when I've not drunk enough. As someone else said, eveything hurts in late pg and you're so on edge wih evey little twinge! Take things steady and do ring your MAU, even if it's just for advice over the phone. It'll reassure you and you certainly won't be wasting anyone's time.

Yeah chick I drink 2-3 litres a day I love water can't get enough of it, will see how today goes and if they get any worse I'll give her a call. Just feel like a right nag buy your right that's what they are there for xxxxx

I'd give your midwife a call. Don't feel bad. When is your next appointment? Don't suffer. It could maybe be way baby is lying.

Nice ear infection and blockage on the other side. Lovely xx

You're definitely not a nag or silly hun, I had my LO at 32 weeks and the first symptom I had was severe aching back pains and what felt like lower back cramping about a week before the "Braxton Hicks" started (which actually turned out to be slow labour) keep an eye on yourself and try not to stress, remain off your feet as much as possible and if you feel it's still bugging you, definitely go in for a check. I was determined not to be a bother or a worry wart during my preg and when I did go they admitted me lol! it's probably nothing, but it really doesn't hurt to be cautious. Also if you can't eat or talk through Braxton hicks, go in and get checked also and I was told they're not supposed to be painful! xx

Thanks lovely that's really helpful. They haven't been as bad as they were Thursday night but was doing the dishes yesterday and couldn't stand up to finish them my back was in so much pain! I keep getting hot sweats today and just want to sleep but stuck in work. Felt really really heavy to walk just to the shop round the corner xxx

No worries, hoping they're abit better for you today? I just thought it came with the pregnancy getting the lower back pain honestly, but I remember saying to OH that he'd have to start driving me round as my lower back was so bad I could barely walk around and thought I was just a wimp! lol! Just remember to take days off and rest whenever you can as what's important is LO arriving safely, Not easy this growing a human lark is it!

Loads better today! Thank you for checking in on me I really do appreciate its great to speak to people going through the same with the best advice. I only have 10 shifts left in work so powering through and then can have a rest till little miss is here. My backs not as intense, still there but putting that down to the little one getting heavier rapidly xxxx
