Hi!

I would like to design a yoga mat which is specifically tailored to the needs of women going through pregnancy
.
My girlfriend found that yoga really helped her during her pregnancy last year and I think it’s important for women to have as much support as possible through the challenging time that is pregnancy.

As such. I was hoping that some of you may be willing to share your thoughts, what do you like and don’t you like about your current yoga mat? Did you find anything that made yoga particularly challenging for you? What do you find most beneficial from Yoga?

any comments will be deeply appreciated.

- Jack.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'll reply anyway. I can obviously only give my personal opinion, but I'm also a yoga teacher, prenatal yoga teacher and I attend prenatal yoga classes as well.

My first thought is that though it's great to want to support pregnant women, I can't think of anything that would be different in a yoga mat for me when being pregnant to not being pregnant.
It's just down to personal preferences; thick or thin mat, longer than average or not etc, but a yoga mat is just a yoga mat to me whether I'm pregnant or not, but there's nothing in particular I feel I suddenly need from it when being pregnant.
I do need more props though (bricks, blocks, belt, bolster etc), but again a lot of people find it useful to use them when not being pregnant either.
I find the community aspect useful in prenatal yoga, and to allow myself to go slower, as well as the breathing exercises.
