Sorry for all the posts ha ha! Yes so I am turning 35 in December so a tad bit nervous about having difficulty conceiving. I am planning on starting ttc at the start of the year so have now came off the pill to track my period before hand. Any experiences from older mums ttc?

I am 39 and in my 5th month of TTC. Still hopeful for me!

I will be 34 in a few weeks and am nervous about this also!

I am 36 and conceived very quickly. Baby is healthy and due in February. Good luck to you all!

Fingers crossed for u guys! Really hope i can get pregnant.

I think a big part of the problem is that the fertility industry is heavily focused on statistics so it's easy to get hung up on that and forget that that's all they are. They would have you believe that once you hit 35, it's all over but of course that's not true. Lots of couples conceive easily after this age and lots of much younger couples struggle.

I was 28 when we started trying and statistically odds are better under 30 than over 30 but I was 31 by the time we conceived. We had a number of issues that were nothing to do with age though.

Good luck everyone. I hope it turns out to be an easier journey than you think!!

I'm 35 in February, on my 5th month of ttc baby no.2 (first baby with my partner). I have a 6 year old daughter and conceived her on cycle 2 after coming off the pill at 27. x

Personally i dont think age has any bearing on ttc at all - you hear of woman a lot older who fall pregnant, i think its all done to our bodies. Good luck x

It is likely to take longer for women mid-30's and over than a woman in her teens/20's, that's generally speaking, and not taking in to account any fertility issues x

I turned 34 in August, conceived first try everytime, 3 times in total but 2 were miscarriages, this current pregnancy was conceived about 3 weeks before I turned 34, current 18 weeks and everything is going well, I’ve been very lucky in conceiving quickly but also a bit unlucky with the miscarriages, I think how quickly you will conceive depends on the fertility of both partners, there are so many different factors which affect fertility such as the condition of your tubes and womb, hormone levels to prompt ovulation and sustain a pregnancy, cervical mucus quality, sperm amount and health, and yes the quality of your eggs is a major factor and unfortunately they get damaged as we get older, I don’t necessarily believe age 35 is some kind of cut off point though, I personally believe it’s more towards 40 when you need to start getting your skates on but that’s if you and your partner are generally in good health with no fertility issues, people of all ages can have fertility issues and miscarriages, I’ve known a 25 year old trying to conceive for over a year with 1 miscarriage to show for it, and a 38 years old get pregnant after 3 months of not trying not preventing so it’s just impossible to tell until you start trying! Good luck I hope it happens really quick for you x

I’m 33 took me over 2 and a half years of conceive my son. Ill be 34 next year when I’m trying again .My midwife says don’t listen to all the negativity regarding age and conceiving. I watched a fertility experts on tv that says don’t listen to people about age. It means nothing. So I’m going with that. Best of luck x

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to wait before trying as stopping smoking etc..first. Really want one though. I feel I am getting a tad bit obsessed by it!

I just turned 35 (and partner was 40) when I conceived - on our first attempt, we have been very fortunate.
If you haven't considered it, you might want to come off hormonal-type contraceptives and switch to condoms until you're ready to start trying - it can take a while for your body to adjust (but not always!).

I never would have believed how much havoc hormonal contraceptives could have caused me. I know my situation was unusual but I've sworn off them for life!!

Honestly if I knew then what I knew now

The main reason I went on it was I had problems with crippling cramps in my younger days and knowing when I'd be felt quite handy. They focus so much on you just need to miss one pill for an unplanned pregnancy but fail to mention anything about how difficult it can be for a lot of women to come off it.

I have just went off it and not planning on ttc straight away. Wanted to give myself time to get my cycle back to normal.
