Ok so i'm really worried about getting it, the thought of it is actually terrifying me! As some of you may know i've been getting quite severe swelling in my feet, ankles and legs. I went to the doctors yesterday and my blood pressure and urine sample were fine, thank god! But he did seem quite concerned about the extent of the swelling for how far gone I am and said it would need to be monitored. He said a bit of swelling is normal but i've barely been able to walk on them it's been pretty extreme. The doctors sending me for some blood tests aswell.
So i know i don't have it now but i'm really worried i might develop it.
Plus whilst on the phone to my mom last night I told her about all this and the doctors and such and she said 'oh dear, i had pre eclampsia with your sister! But luckily I was 38 weeks gone so was safe to deliver then.'! So being a bit curious today i decided to google it discovered that apparantly it can be hereditory!!! :(

I know how you feel hun, I am high risk after having it with both my boys :( I wont lie, I am scared of getting it again! I see a consultant on Friday about it, when the midwife tested my urine I was showing traces of protein but my blood pressure had come down, just hoping and praying there's no protein when the consultant tests my urine on Friday. So far I have only swelled a little x x

It must be really scary hun but try not to worry about something that you can't change - unfortunately our bodies will do what they want to do how they want to do it without consulting us first! Also the more stressed out you get about it the more chance there is of your blood pressure going up through stress! I know its easier said than done but try not to worry too much about it - there may be a very simple explanation about the swelling etc that will show up when you have the extra blood tests. Have you thought about going to see a homeopath (that specialises in pregnancy) as they might have some natural, safe remedies that could help you? Conventional medicine is great however sometimes they don't look at every angle, it may well be worth getting the opinion of a trained homeopath to see what they have to say? Feel better x

Try not to worry hun. My mum had it on my sister and had her 6 wks early.
I thought I would have a higher chance of getting it but on my paperwork I got after my scan it said Im low risk.
It may be hereditary but it doesnt increase ur chances a huge amount xxx

Try not to worry hun, easier said than done I know, but stress won't help your bp or LO. When sitting keep your feet up xxx

Try not to worry, I'm sorry you are having such severe swelling, I know this may sound a bit random but try to cut out excess salt in your diet and stu.k plenty of water, it should help with the swelling, and could prevent your BP rising, I had Pre Eclampsia with my don, it wasn't fun but got the help we needed, try not to worry yourself xxx

Thanks for all your replies. Your right i do need to try not to worry and concentrate on looking after myself drink plenty of water and keep my feet up etc.
My doc suggested wearing flight socks and i must say they have reduced the swelling a bit.
I think i'm just one of those natural born worriers lol.
